I'm considering some serious deer protection for my beloved 2005 CRD Libby. Has anyone had any issues with cooling air restriction using the ARB bumper/ winch combo? Also what about the extra weight up front? My 98 Grand Cherokee is sagging a little in the front from carrying around it's ARB for seven years.

If you don't have one already, I'd say you probably want to have the OME HD springs in front before adding that much weight in the nose. They'd go nicely with an OME CRD lift.

The ARB with a Daystar spacer sagged the springs a bit after ~2 years 30k miles
whether that was ARB or Daystar is open to discussion.

OME790's work great now.

and interestingly enough the ARB seems to have a mileage hit ~ 1 or so
- must be an aerodynamic thing because that much weight isn't an issue
no cooling problems - but I don't tow anything

I have the springs for the heavy bumper but did not buy it, too expensive for me.
I wish the springs would sag but after 40,ooo they are still holding the erection.
The rear shocks went out but the front shocks are still good.

I've had one on my 06 for three years and have had no cooling issues. Largest thing I've towed is two snowmachines. You will need the HD springs. I put the OME lift on at the same time I installed the bumper but at that time they didn't have the heavy springs so the jeep has a rake and will bottom on frost heaves at higher speeds. I have the new 790 springs now just haven't taken the time to install yet. It's a good looking bumper and should put the stop on a deer or at least fling him up and over hopefully.

The bumper dosen't block any air flow. If you add a winch, it still doesn't block much.

Hate to go off topic, but that color brings back very fond memories of my first vehicle. A brand new 1979 Jeep Cherokee S four door wagon, in Russet Metallic. That color is so close. Sigh, be nice to relive youth.

dieselenthusiast, I may have missed this in your sig, but what winch is mounted in your ARB? I have this bumper, and like it, along with the Rock Lizzard rear bumper. I am looking for advice re the best winch for my Libby.

Hey, how'd ya get that bumper the same color as the truck? Sand blast it then powdercoat it?

Scuffed the primer that came on the ARB and had it painted to match.

Hello People:

I am wondering if anybody has the measurement specifications for the KJ ARB Liberty Bull Bar Bumper. I am trying to find a way to install a much more powerful electric engine heater than the wimpy OEM block heater it now has. It is VERY COLD up here in Canada, and it takes forever for either of the family CRD Libbys to warm up in the winter. I want to install ARB bumpers eventually anyway, but I am hoping that I can convince the family that I have to have the bumpers sooner to mount the engine heater described/photographed in the following link...

http://answers.canadiantire.ca/answers/9045/product/0303294P/zerostart-zerostart-tank-circulation-engine-heater-questions-answers/questions.htm

There is very little room under the hood of KJ Jeep Libertys, and I understand that these engine heaters must be mounted upright, with the electrical lead on the top as shown in the photo. I was informed that the unit is about 7.5 inches tall, and about 4.0 inches wide, and therefore I was looking for a cavity in the ARB bumper that is about 8.0 inches vertically, and about 5.0 inches horizontally. If the bumper has an inside cavity in it large enough where I can mount this unit properly, I can save myself a major headache trying to find room under the hood. :banghead:

If nobody has these specifications, can somebody who has an ARB Bull Bar Bumper take some measurements for me? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :D

Jeff

Turbo Diesel Freak, you should take a look at Espar heaters, that is what is used in Sprinters, and you might be able to stick one behind the battery, or in your new bumper.

Espar heaters are wonderful, but very expensive... I believe the cost for a Hydronic 4 or 5 is about $3000.00 installed. No, thank you... my last name is Bauer, not Gates or Buffett.
