Well the first change that I have performed anyway. The CRD has 60K on her and I've noticed a little hesitation in it lately on slight acceleration and mpg's are terrible. I figure that It can't hurt. It has a factory (but hopefully not original) Chrysler fuel filter on it now. I know it has been beat to death but can some one give me the "play by play" on swaping out the fuel filter so I don't screw this up and get stranded?
Thanks, Steve

This is a great, play-by-play write up. viewtopic.php?f=98&t=35702

On the off chance that it is the original, make sure you have a plier-type filter wrench handy. Ask me how I know.

Thank you sir. That'll work just fine. You seem to always have the answers I'm looking for, I appreciate it.

I've changed mine twice. It is pretty easy as long as you don't mess up the wire connected to the sensor on the bottom. Be sure to check those wires for holes. Mine was damaged and it kept setting the fuel in water light off. I had to tape the heck out of it to be sure it stayed dry.

Be sure that you don't over pay for your filter from the dealer. They will charge over $120, and I even had a hard time gettting the right part due to the change over in their part numbers this summer. I had to contact the parts manager here in Lake Orion and complain about their lack of help and he got me what I needed for $38. I also got a NAPA filter as an extra for about $22.

BTW. The second time I changed my filter, I unbolted the whole assembly from the firewall while still leaving the hoses connected (two bolts) and life was SOOOO much easier. The wire on the bottom was much easier to get to, and I could look more closely at the housing for fuel leaks and what not.

Both times I primed them like the manual said and it worked just as the manual described. The jeeps stalls at first to get the air out, and then it works after that.
