Good job. Love to see people put down the cookie cutter and go for it.

Bull bar - Yes, I'll still put one on there. I've never liked the stinger look. I'll go for one like the ARB's have.

Turn signals- I did try a couple of mock-ups in Google sketch up with different locations with the turn signals. I ended up liking them better in close like that. Keep in mind that when I get the two triangular ones wired up, they are going to flash too. They are visible from the front and the sides. Plus I thought that they'd be less likely to get damaged in close like that. Out on the edge they'd be right in the path of the rocks I'd be trying to line the tires up on to climb over them.

Whether you wait until you add the hoop or not, make sure to add this to the Bumper thread in the 4x4 section. I'll add a link to this build on the first page in the list of bumpers people have done.

A couple of UPDATED pics. I added a steel plate to protect the radiator support and radiator. I also added a taper to the back bumper today. It looks a little more finished now. I have some 1/8" flats stock that I may build bosses for the D-Ring mounts from. Not sure yet. Still haven't got the hoop yet. Still haven't gotten the swing-away tire carrier built either. The bottom picture does show my cut rear shock mounts though. Gets them up and out of the way!

Nice work.

I'm thinking about making a bumper myself and was wondering if you had any pictures of the structural aspects of the bumper?
Thanks!

The structural aspect is shown in the build up. It is basically 1/4" 2X2 angle steel that runs down the frame. These stick out about 6 inches than I have the same angle steel joining these two pieces to make a box for the winch. The bumper shell is just welded to that frame. I also made sure to weld the D-ring mounts to the bumper in that same box area. The lights are the factory lights behind square holes cut out. There is a tab that sticks out where the lights curve and they are then mounted to that tab. Pretty simple straightforward design. I HIGHLY recommend that you start the project by buying 3/16" foam board, take the factory bumper off and start mocking up some different ideas. You will see how easy that is and then you can use the foam board to cut the steel pieces.

Thanks for a great DIY thread. I really like your winch plate. Have you field tested it yet?

Well done!!!!

Can we see some more painted pics?

looks really good, glad you went with the passenger side style, looks a tad bit less bulky, can't wait to see the rear bumper build-up.....
