The ARB guys keep talking about the advantage of being able to set tools or whatever on their front bumpers, so... here's one for them!

Funny story on this. I have a custom flat front bumper and I had "tools" (a hammer) lying on it. I was under it drilling and the hammer vibrated off, fell and clocked me right on the forehead!!!! hurt like blazes and left a huge goose egg and bruise. So it isn't quite as convenient as one might think.

Back on topic - Let me start by saying I have not been a fan of the flat fenders. Yours are changing my mind. I think with just a little bit of a down skirt on the outside it would look an awefule lot like the new wranglers. (AWESOME!). I agree that something has to be done with the wheel well. I'd try bedliner before sheeting it. Just my opinion. It will make it look completely different.

Keep up the great work!

Here's the finished Right side, installed. Just flat black rattle can spray paint for now. ( easier to fix that way  )

I tried to get the front corner to fit the factory bumper, but also something like the ARB (in case I get rich :) )
Image
Also not sure if I want to tuck the bottom edge in just a little more to follow the body line better.

Makes it LOOK like there's lots of room there!

I'll finish up the last of the left one the first couple days of next week.

Thanks, and I have been looking at what I want to do with the fenderwells (paint, cover, line-x) but I was talking to somebody else about just what you said. Bringing the outside edge down just maybe 1-1/2 or 2" no more. Don't know yet. Also not sure if I want to tuck the bottom edge in just a little more to follow the body line better. This set is almost done but .... it IS a work in progress! :D

Larry looks great! I really like the look of those, the only thing I might change is tapping the back of the flare to the body of the KJ. But then again if you do that you loose the mudd stopping ability of the wider flares.....Looks verse Funcionality. Take a few more pics of the inner fender too. I won't be at the badlands so i dont get to see them upclose yet

KJWildman,
I really like what you've done with these flatfenders! I think by far your design is the one I like best for the KJ :) I agree with the previous poster that I think you should line-x the interior fender well area, more scratch resistant and will somewhat hide all the various bits and pieces that make up that inner fender.

Nice Job!

Finished my left side today just in time for The Badlands. I kind of rushed this one so there are some things I need to redo/redesign, and there are some flaws in the left one ( my welding  ). But, here are some pics of where I'm at. I have fixtures about halfway made up to fab more if there is enough interest. I AM going to make another set for myself with some design changes that are built into the fixtures/jigs. It is still going to be another 6-8 weeks for me to finish up the fixtures then I can go to town. I know that sounds like a while but Boiler can attest to how long it takes to figure out how to make the fixtures so the fabrication is repeatable. He has the advantage of CAD, I'm just wingin' it! :-)r
