Quick question here for all the Jeep gods out there:

Reasons NOT to buy an SRT8 Grand Cherokee (other than lack of off-roadability).

GO!

Ask THESE GUYS.

Otherwise, there isn't any reason not to buy one.

Just don't complain about the gas mileage(about 6-7mpg's at best).

You'd have to be dumb as a bag of rocks if gas mileage is a concern considering a Hi-Po SUV.

About 90% of the owners are dumb as a box of rocks, that's about the only thing they complain about, they want the power and 50mpg's also or they don't like it.

Yeah I suppose there is some the truth to that. I mean look at all the people who buy a Rubicon because they believe they'll look cool only to trade it in several months later because they didn't realize what they were actually getting in to.

One of my co-workers daughters had a Rubicon and she traded it in for a Hyndai Tibiron cus of gas mileage. its so sad that thing was very nice.

1. Off road ability (lack of)
2. lowered
3. don't like the gray interior
4. Rims are too big
5. No hitch (exhaust in center)
5. No spare tire IIRC
6. No low range

Should have been a dodge and NOT a jeep. My aunt and uncle had one for a while and traded it for an overland GC. Jeep + lowering + performance engines = :banghead:

Cant see a reason to not buy one. If youre worried about MPG just get a 5.7 hemi. Ours gets better mpg than my liberty on the hw. I regularly see 20mpg out of it. 13-15mpg in the city..

Don't buy one if you enjoy eating mustangs for lunch. Or hondas for a snack

soooo.... the jist of what I'm hearing here is Fuel economy sucks arse - and it's got plenty of git-er-dunocity.

No big issues to be aware of?

I got an e-mail & flyer from my dealer here, with an upgrade credit - might go in to see what we can get, and maybe even come out cheaper than the liberty...

hmm....

Yeah besides the low mpg's and $300+ each street tires required there's nothing wrong with a 425hp Jeep.

Any opinions of the 5.7L Hemi GC as well?

seems better fuel mileage than the SRT8 anyways, ups/downs?

True enough - price is one factor - going to find out how much of a factor tonight (if the wife will let me).

Through the company I work for, I get fleet pricing on all new chrysler/dodge/jeeps - Love my KK, but got a flyer in the mail for a trade-in-upgrade credit - between the discount, and credit.... I'm hoping to come out CHEAPER (month-to-month) than the KK. We'll find out soon enough. I HAVE been offroad with the KK once, but can't seem to find the will to really push through and beat it up. If I want to offroad more in the future, I think I'll go the cheap-jeep route. Offroadability isn't really much of a concern for me in the next vehicle. However, I DO live in Calgary Canada, so winter driving is 6 months of the year for me here - 4x4 imho is a must (after the KK I'll never go back to a 2wd in the winter).

Even looking/thinking about commanders... but I can't imagine it would be a very happy day at the fuel pump with them...

Why don't you just check out the upgrade incentives to buying a 4 door JK? You'll have a nice comfortable road and off road vehicle - not to mention the ability to go topless!

:2cents:

three words answer this question:

Wife says no. :|

I'd seriously consider it actually, she just doesn't want one for a DD - AND really.... the off road worthyness will, more than likely, be lost to me at this point.

Just curious, has she ever ridden in a 4 door JK?

Personally, I think the ride and steering in the 2 door JK's sucks. (I'm so happy I decided on a TJ Rubicon). The 4 door JK on the other hand is a really sweet ride.

Wife loves hers; it was worth the fuel economy loss for a much nicer vehicle (previously owned a 2005 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 CRD). We bought it December 29th and played hard*booty at the dealership because we knew they wanted to finish 2009 with a bang.

We're at about 4,300 miles and the 5.7L ain't skipped a beat.

Greg
