So, soon my stock crappy tires will need to be replaced, i am curious about lifting and getting some new rims and whatnot.

Is lifting the vehicle something i can do myself, i am very handy and can put back together anything i can take apart, but do i need special tools/equipment other than some car jacks/stands.

Also, what is a good brand of tire to go with for the price? I do not off road but i might want to get into it. I ultimately just want a taller bigger looking truck.

Lastly, on average if i did do this all myself, what would all the parts/supplies run me on average for a nothing too fancy setup?

You should be able to do the lift yourself. Having air tools would simplify the process. Also follow torque requirement, don't just take stuff off and put it back on.

If you don't off road a whole lot and most of your time will be on roads look into all terrain tires, they'll give a more meater look and still have decent off/on road qualities. Mud terrain won't be necessary, wear out quicker and will only provide you with a more uncomfortable and noisey ride. Firestone, BFGoodrich, Duratracs are all decent tires. Stay around a 31 inch tire or less to not need a regear and terrible mileage.

Depending on how much you want to spend on a lift is what kind you're getting. Spacer lifts are around $300 but usually aren't recommened cause you end up using old worn out factory components. JBA has a 2.5" lift that will replace your factory components and run you about $1000 and a larger lift that will cost quite a bit. I've read, word on the street anyway, that OME has released a lift for the KK but it has not reached the states yet. We will see what comes of that.

I've seen 245/75/16 and 255/70/16 on aftermarket rims fit without a lift. I believe the 245 would be fine on stock rims also. Dunno what size rims you're running though.

i think i have the largest tires on stock set up at 255/70/16... my wheels is a +12 offset and because of that i have a little rubbing, if you had the stock +30-35 it would be fine....
