Its not up for inspection for another year, and my area of PA doesn't have emissions.

I will be plugging it in on occasion to see if anything else pops up until i get a tune on it.

I didn't realize you were in PA.... Where in PA are you? I'm in York south of Harrisburg. Diesels should be exempt from emmisions state wide.

I'm about 20 miles from somerset (exit 110 on the pike) I'll set up my sig soon since it looks like i'll be hanging around.

I think i'm going to call around and look for a piece of flex tubing exhaust so i can cut out the muffler and the restrictions and drive it with just the flex pipe in place of the muffler to see if i like it. From the way it looks i didnt see anything real restrictive in the tailpipe bends, unless i just missed it when i glanced at it.

Sounds like you are a few hours west of me then

I don't want to rain on your parade but I think the vehicle inspection laws require a muffler for all road going vehicles driven on public roads and registered in the state. you should verify this before you go doing that so you don't get in to a situation next year where you may have to get a muffler or its not going a pass our wonderful anual safety inspection.

There are several preformace mufflers that other members here have tried and like.... it may be worth a look instead of a straight pipe.

Yeah they are required, it would be a "test pipe". I actually plan on setting it up that i could just put the stocker back in to be inspected. I have been running my powerstroke straight piped for 3-4 years, and just toss the muffler back in so my inspection guy doesnt get into trouble.

I actually bought the jeep in Sommerset at Tri city motors. The price was RIGHT, I couldnt belive it. I drove out there and look the CRD over for several hours thinking there had to be something wrong w/ it. I even called my buddy at jeep and got a full service report for it. Not one major issue. SO...i bought it.

The Jeep is just Blue. I havnt been in the past 4 or 5 weeks or so...Ill be back in July sometime.

I was pretty sure they were required but the "Test Pipe" setup seems like a good plan if you have a garage and don't mind changing things back. THat setup would not be for me I will just get a preformance muffler and have the restriction cut out after the CAT when my muffer goes south.
