Hi All, Has any one got any thoughts on the following, At 60mph on the high way, I plant the Accelerator the engine stalls for a second then recovers but at the same time the engine light comes on and stays on. This happened before a few months ago but after driving for a few days the engine light went out.

Howdy doc - Welcome to LOST and no it's not a standard car - it's a Jeep and a CRD.

as to the stall - try to get the code - you might be able to get a Pep boys or advance auto to read it - although you should be looking at code readers (Harbor Freight used to have one for ~$40) find one that's returnable - many don't read correctly

overwhelmingly the number one stall issue on stock CRD's is air-in fuel - typically caused by the fuel head leaking air in at the heater port (it's a total vacuum fuel system)

a clogged filter can make it worse if it's marginal - so a filter change might help - a new style fuel head with attached filter is better.

but read the code before changing anything.


(okay I just noticed 2.5L - that means Europe or Australia? - they have different fuel heads - may just be a filter issue)

That problem went away all by its self i think it was from a lot of very short trips that blocked the cat, as after a long drive on the motorway got rid of the engine light.
