Since we have a couple new folks in the area, why not a Meet, Greet, and go play off-road?

How does Saturday August 13 sound?

We can grab breakfast somewhere and then hit the trails. All welcome even from afar.

We will be in Steamboat Springs that weekend. (wedding). The following weekend would be better for us. But if that is bettter for the group we will try hook up for the next run.

Either weekend would probably be OK with us.

Well, I am all for the Rockies group so if the next weekend (20-21 August) works better for the majority, then go for it. For me, I'll be on my way to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas ( I know...tough training) for my annual Air Guard training until early September.

Perhaps we can do both weekends. I know this could dilute both runs since some people have families and they can't do two weekends in a row.

What are everyone elses thoughts?

Well, if you all still want to do a meet n greet somewhere on sat 13th, that should work for me....

Just got home from WA, reinsured the Jeep today, now I have to change diff fluids, and try to find my exhaust leak... may just take it in, I think it is the manifold, been there a few years now, so I think that is what it is, not bad so even if it is still there, I will go run.

So when and where???

I go back to work on the 15th, so a run prior to going to work would be awesome.

Ted

It looks like most people can do the 13th - so have fun! We'll hook up on the next one.

So where for Breakfast, then where to wheel??

And who is going to be lead?

I am att he Academy, I know Joe is in Denver and SkyJump is in CR, others sorry, I do not know if you are all north of or south of Denver. Are we all going to meet in a central place, or near to where ever we are to wheel?

Quivvy is in Boulder and I am in Aurora. Who else?

I am open for suggestions.

Still wanting to do the North Supply Creek trail since our fun adventure onto the snowmobile trail the last time.

What do you guys think? Of course this means meeting somewhere near Morrison parking lot. There's plenty of eating places just east/north of there.
There is a Village Inn on Colfax Ave close to I-70 and C-470.
I'm still way too new at all this to take lead.

well, I do not know the area well enough to lead, I could lead down here on old stage road if I see it I should remember all Pete showed me, but I can't garauntee due to how long I have been gone, a lot can change.

What do you not know about for lead Joe? If experience is what you think you lack, then I think we could all help on the lead if we know the trail route.

I have a copy the guide to Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel drive Trails if we want to try to find a trail in there, and it has maps of the trails as well.

As for a place and time for breakfast, we need to figure out if

A: we do it at a central meet place and convoy to the wheeling trail (I like this one, a show of force as it were)

or

B: We meet somewhere near the trail head

As long as someone with decent off road driving skills goes through the obstacles first we should be in good shape. Leading is not about knowing the area so much as knowing your limits. We can all help out with navigation, but someone has to be willing to slide over those big rocks first...

I don't think you have to worry about Ted not being willing to slide over those big rocks first... Just keep in mind that he'll wait until he's following you down a steep incline to tell you that his brakes are suspect. :-)r

Funny Pete!!!

As I recall, I never even came close to you

Hope you are still doing good, btw, if you can, check your PM's

Well guys, If you want I will lead on the trail, but as far as getting us there, that will be up to someone else.
How accurate are the ratings to you in the Guide to Colorado backroads and trails?
The trail to Mt Baldy is rated as Medium, but both myself and KS2002KJ thought it was pretty easy, although more difficult than Kansas and NW MO trails were.

Since most of you all are North of me I am thinking wheeling up there Say some of the area 5 trails between I-70 and CO 285. 1 moderate trail, 2 easy, and 3 difficult to choose from.

Now let us start this up,

who is in, I am!!!

And where are we going to meet?

I haven't wheeled in a year almost, I got the bug and need a support group!

BTW, If Pete scared ya, the breaks were fixed with my exhaust leak yesterday 8)

Since it is hard to get a place to eat first thing, we can just meet at the usual place (Morrison Park and Ride, hit the trails, and then meet somewhere like Idaho Springs or another cozy little town and eat lunch.

9am at Morrison Park and Ride work for everyone? Usual spot (parking area straight across the road from the off-ramp)?

North Supply Creek? I am also open to let you pick USAFCOP, since you just got back. I shall give you the honors.
