Check the wiring first before doing anything hasty. According to page 105 of this transmission manual, (
http://www.hotrodlane.cc/New%20HEMI%20T ... 0trans.pdf ) if the Transmission Temperature Sensor is not operating correctly, then the TCM will use input from other sources. You will just have to endure the CEL being on.
If it starts shifting funny or slipping, then it would be good to try and replace the solenoid yourself. You have to take the trans pan off to get to the valve body and the solenoid. Here's a link to a write-up a member did on pulling the valve body to install a shift kit:
