Well I have had the Jeep for three days and I got my first check engine light...stopped at a local shop and they pulled the code for me: PO714....transmission temperature sensor intermittent....

Any thoughts?

They said call the dealership.....

And the dealer told me there is no transmission temperature sensor.

The trans temp sensor is integrated into the solenoid assembly which is mounted to the valve body. The only way to service the part is to replace the solenoid assembly if it is indeed the issue (it could otherwise be faulty wiring).

Took a look at this project and figured I would do mare harm than good in trying to fix it. Local shop is quoting me 800 to 1000 bucks to do it.....seems unreasonable but I want to check with the board on wether this seems a valid estimate...any thoughts.....anyone have a part number for this solenoid assembly, or know where I can look it up?

Check the wiring first before doing anything hasty. According to page 105 of this transmission manual, ( http://www.hotrodlane.cc/New%20HEMI%20T ... 0trans.pdf ) if the Transmission Temperature Sensor is not operating correctly, then the TCM will use input from other sources. You will just have to endure the CEL being on.

If it starts shifting funny or slipping, then it would be good to try and replace the solenoid yourself. You have to take the trans pan off to get to the valve body and the solenoid.
