Fuel Filter for Biodiesel

I searched, and no exact answers.

I need a new fuel filter, and not sure if the NAPA/WIX will work with Biodiesel, or do I need a finer micron filter?

The previous owner never used Bio, and after my first b20 tank, I am already losing MPG, so filter is #1 for job me.

Okay, first off, you are going to lose mpgs running B20 or higher, regardless. I found that B20 was a 1-2mpg hit, while B99 was a 3-4mpg hit.

As for filters, the NAPA/Wix filter is just fine.

I notice a 10% mpg drop running B100. I use the regular Mopar filter - no issues after 78k miles of B100. Come on over to the light side :jester:

I am okay with the MPG drop, as long as it's NOT due to a clogged filter

After reading on here, I would think the bio cleaned out my tank somewhat (about 350 miles to this tank)

Since you are running a relatively low concentration, I might give it a couple more tanks to clean out as much gunk as possible.

I like using B100, but making it is wearing me out, there's got to be a better way.

Doesn't it end up a lot cheaper making it yourself? I know there is tons of brewing topics on here, so not to start a new one

Making bio yourself may or may not be cheaper. You have to purchase the tanks and such to batch brew it, then you have to find a good source of used cooking oil or whatever to make the stuff. Factor in your time to do all this, and maybe it is not a good deal. If you have a good source of cheap or free used cooking oil, then there would be a return on the investment of time and materials over time. In my area, there is a lot of used oil being bought up by commercial producers and others that negates any real savings making my own batch brew, so I cancelled any ideas about starting to do it. But then, I also get .20-.40 cents off per gallon of fuel at the pump due to negotiated pricing with my trucking business, so the Jeep gets that benefit as well.

run a spreadsheet on the startup costs and then search out sources of used oil before you sink any money into brewing your own bio. It may work out well for you in your area. Just hate to see someone invest a lot of time and money and not see any real savings. If you don't save any money, then it is just a hobby and a way to tell others that you did it.

75 dollars for a full tank of B99...

I bought a NAPA fuel filter I will put on after this tank, to make sure it gets cleaned out.
