Ok folks, I have to say that I am FLOORED with my experience the other day. On the way to the store, I waved at a couple of wranglers that did not wave back....not surprising from what I hear. BUT, I also waved at three Libbys and they did not wave back either!! Ok, I know they saw me...I was a wavin' like mad!! lol. In addition to that all three of the libbys had Disabled plaquards in the mirror, not that there is anything wrong with that, my dad is disabled. But it give a person pause to see that there is little chance that Libby is going to make it offroad. What really got to me though is that I live in a small town where people are SUPPOSED to be friendly and nobody waved back! So much for small town hospitality! I am going to have a sticker made up that says....I AM WAVING AT YOUR JEEP!! What do ya all think? Will it work?

People are just bad at waving..... Even when I had my TJ, very few fellow jeepers would return the wave.... Jerks :(

I imagine you run into the same problem with a grand cherokee. Because so many of them sell, a lot of people that drive them think of it as "just a car" and don't obsess about it like we do :-)

I would say that even with the classic jeepers hating on IFS jeeps, a wrangler driver is more likely to return the wave than another KJ or GC. It's sad but true - people who drive wranglers drive them because they are unlike any other vehicle and they have that Jeep Pride thing going on. Most people who drive the liberty drive it because it's better than a CRV or RAV4.

From what I've heard, when you throw a new bumper, impressive rack, or lift/tires on there, you get waves more often. Or a LOST sticker - I always wave when I see a LOST sticker :-)

ADDED:
The Jeep Wave topic just came up on the LJ community "jeeps_only" recently, and these were some links to information that is amusing:
http://www.jeeptalk.org/jeep_wave.shtml
http://www.jeepinwave.com/waverules.shtml

I forget to wave in the Rubicon sometimes. My wife drives it more than I do and she always gets real upset with me if she realizes I didn't wave back at someone.

I am all for the wave. Sometimes I just get in a zone with the radio or something and don't notice another Jepp drive by. I'm not trying to be an ( * ), In fact I wish I would remember more!

As for in the KJ, I have never gotten a wave except when I am in a convoy of 6 KJs headed down to the offroad park. Then, we turn heads and get waves of all sorts.

You'll have to give us an update when you get the Moabs, MTRs, and Frankenlift on there, that ought to generate some waves :-)

Well, at least I can come here and get the "virtual wave"!! I feel like the outcast over here in Oregon, people don't wave, don't like my Bullet  Well today I am putting my KJ sticker "It's a KJ thing....you wouldn't understand" on Bullet. I am thinking of taking out a full size ad in the local paper.....

DID YOU KNOW????

KJ's are Jeeps too....blah blah blah

And then post a copy of the pic of the Libby pulling out the wrangler...LOL. :-)r

Anyone want to help me design it :P

Half the people that drive Jeeps dont see this or any outher forum and dont know what you are doing.
I drive the Liberty and the wife drives the TJ so we wave at any Jeep and we have a lot of outher 4x4 wave also its just FUN. I got a little mad when some joker tried to say I did not have enought POINTS in my jeep to get a wave. He did not like it when I asked him if it had enought points to pull him out of the mud the next saturday at Winrock.
Just my thoughts, I was in the Liberty that day.

i never give/recieve a Jeep wave...it's just not a very popular thing up here I geuss. Ocassionally I will get a car full of teenage girls asking why I chose to cover up such a pretty color vehicle with mud (happened 4 or 5 times now) and I talked to an impressed YJ owner (he and his wife were trying to geuss what color my Jeep was...Then you have the occasional XJ owner you meet at 11 pm on a friday at the local gas station (Wisbar) who later joins the forum...

I think it really depends on the area that you're in, if wheeling is big in your town, the wave will be too. If your town is like mine (everybody has a CLEAN 4x4), then don't expect it...

The only two waves I've ever gotten were from a young girl my age in a jeep that looked just like mine, and from an older(30's id say) woman in a 2005 libby. Her husband also drives a wrangler, purty cool i thought.

I just returned from a trip to Newport Beach....one day out there I rented a TJ...I know i know...I turned to the other team for a day....but anyway, we drove it out to Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area....had a great day out there, nice and hot...and every single Jeep driver, TJ XJ KJ whatever, all waved...hundreds of em....good day out there. Of course though, I get home and all the KJ's and TJ's drivers are private and quiet and don't wave, felt like a raving moron! Oh well, hopefully that'll change now that I have my Rockfather 1 and Goodyear MTR's...just have to put em all on...then we'll see who doesn't look and wave!

obviously, no offense was meant...and doesn't seem like you were offended, but the ones I saw had about 80 year old men in them. Now I am NOT saying that they don't take them offroad, but the odds say probably not.

Here is the good part...I got waves on the way to the bank this afternoon from a lifted, muddy, cherokee and a beat-up wrangler!!   I wonder if it is because I just washed and detailed my KJ and she is an eyestopper clean???
