Does anyone know if any of these bumpers could be modded to fit a KJ, really like their stuff, especially after seeing it out on the trail today

Short answer is yes. Long answer is it will take a bit of work... do a search of "TJ bumper", it will give you some ideas. I even had a JK Warn bumper on my JK for a bit. Decided I just didn't trust it for a full front end recovery without permanently welding it, which I didn't wan to do. Their are pictures in the bumper sticky.

I don't think that it's a great idea to weld onto a unibody.... but I'm no expert.

If done properly there are no issues, of course that is with any welding job. If done poorly, it can be very dangerous, and possibly ruin your rig. Of course that is also true with any other welding job...

From working in a bodyshop and being certified in frame repair(both full frame,unibody,and uniframe) you should not wildly weld on it,not more then the OEM spotwelds.In the KJ(and more so on the KK) the main "frame" parts are made out of HSS which does not like being welded on.

So... should you be welding something major like a front bumper onto the frame or not? I do recognize you as an expert.

The point being discussed was that just because the KJ is unibody it shouldn't have any welding done on it. It can be welded without damage if done CORRECTLY. Skill and difficulty were not the topic.

In correction to your summation, I never recommended welding the bumper to the frame, just that it would have been the only option that I would have trusted with a JK bumper during a recovery. i.g. no faith with just bolts with that particular bumper mounted to a KJ.

if someone in the dayton area could help me build my bumper bracket that i have been toying with for almost a year we could take any TJ or JK bumper and bolt it to the front end of are KJ's
