Hello all, I have been scouring the web for a hand held tuner for a 2004 KJ. I am not having too much luck. I have checked sites such as https://www.superchips.com/, http://www.diablosport.com/, http://quatratec.com/ with no luck. Anyone has, had or knows a good one to pick up? Please let me know!

Thanks!!!!

There are no such things for a gasser Liberty. You are limited to a Jet performance chip or a B&G Performance tune, which is a ecu reflash.

Would you suggest going with a Jet stage 1? I haven't done any mods yet so there is no need for a stage 2 yet. Thoughts?

I am not sure if it would help, really, but if I could get some added HP out of the deal for a proper price I would check it out. If I can get away with a Jet chip and do some more mods later then I will stick to that.

The B&G Performance tune looks like the best bet! Thanks!

I used to have the stage 2 jet chip and I think it helped more in the upper rpms but my jeep doesn't ever see that much ever. If I ever feel the need for more hp then I have now I will pry end up getting the B&G to make sure I get the most out of the motor.

Jet 1 produced NEGATIVE effects on the dyno and overall performance

Response from Jet was that they don't test "Every" application that they produce products for..

Alright.. I will go with the B&G for now and hold off on the Jet. I am always a bit nervous about putting those kinds of chips in. It would be nice to get rid of the factory one though. Maybe with the flash from the B&G it will help the HP and the gas mileage.

Will help some what with HP,more so for the trans shifting, but will not really do anything for mpg's besides lower it as you will want to get a on the stupid peddle more.

If you end up getting the flash let us know how it works out, I was thinking about doing this someday, like they said more so for the tranny shifting, but I sure a few HP might appear especially after a bored TB, intake and exhaust.

Tori Mcphail at unleashed tuning.com. He can hook you up with SCT xcalibrator 2 for $499. I trust this guy to tune all my vehicles. He works wonders and he has great customer service skills. I know the price is high and it will only work up to 2006 as of now but after that you will have control over most all of your liberty functions like tranny shift points, shift pressure, speed limiter plus lots more. Usually i never had to change anything because the tunes he sends with the programmer were so good i swear it was like he drove the thing and knew how i wanted it. Just tell himwhat octane fuel is in your area and he does the rest. They are worth every penny. I had my ford escape tuned by him for 5 years and never had a single issue.

Thanks LD-50. Would you suggest I get the mods first then go for the tuning? I think that would make the most sense so I do not get the chips then have it reprogrammed after the mods? Thoughts.? I also received this from B&G.. I think they run about $350.

Jeff there are not handhelds tunes for your vehicle, you would need to send me the ecu and I can optimize for better performance
