OK. I was going off of pics I saw, where a member opened his new box and the pre-assembled struts had spacers in them. He said that's what the Frankenlift is. :?:

There are 2 differnet Frankinlifts, the CRD version does not use spacers. The pic was a gas Frankinlift.

Ok, it seems that the 2.5" frankenlift provide all what i expects: more clearance and an improved ride.

...by the way, i got convinced last week end that i definitely need to do something about the KJ clearance....see my pics under the pic thread....i was not not very proud... :furious:

I just changed to OME 790/ ns131 front and 948/ns132L components this weekend and I'm really pleased! I didn't go with the Frankenlift but the cost of dismantling/reassembling the front springs and struts was only $50 at my local 4wd shop.

I changed the suspension by myself in my garage and had no problems. The job took about 6 hours spread over two days because of the trip to get the front components assembled. The underhood disassembly/assembly was the trickiest part!

The handling is noticeably stiffer ...less lean and sway but the ride is smoother over bumps and potholes. A result of stiffer springs and better shocks as noted earlier. The jeep doesn't look much different...maybe 'perkier' but I notice the difference getting in and out with my stubby legs!

This is the first of my off-warranty changes....on to Samco and GDE in the spring.

All the part numbers being thrown around are mind boggling. Quick question, I'm about ready to get the OME lift and think I have settled on the following components and wanted some feedback before ordering. I was thinking of the following items:

Front: 2927 for the springs, and NS131 for the shocks.
Rear: 2948 for the springs, and NS132 for the shocks.

Does anyone have this setup and what did it do to the rake? I'd like to level the Liberty if possible while not degrading the stock ride quality to that of a skateboard by making the ride too firm if possible.

Thanks,

Mike

I think you will be disappointed with 927's on the front
when the 2.8 CRD's first came out - a lot of folks tried the 927's and complained
that's when OME came out with the 790's - as a response to problems

and on the rear - All-J's has the NS132L - it allows a longer travel on the rear (more drop)
- the 132 will work - 132L is better.

on the right side of the page they list - and will sell - components separately
http://www.boulderbars.com/frankenlift_crd.htm

if you have any questions Quinn and Heather know KJ's

Alright, so with the 2790s and the NS131s up front and the 2948s and the N132Ls in the rear will any bump stopping or brake line adjustments be required? I'd plan on just getting the springs and shocks/struts and installing them myself as I have a spring compressor and the required tools. Any reason to replace any of the parts to be reused if the stock ones still look good?

Thanks,

Mike

If you're doing straight OME as designed you should not need extended bumpstops - OME designs it to work with stock pieces.

However once you start adding clevis lifts and extra top plates - you've moving outside of the OME design - and an extended bumpstop is a cheap/easy way to protect the springs from coil bind - which causes them to sag.

also cheap spring compressors don't work well on the CRD or OME coils - they're big wire diameters / small spacing - when I first put in Daystars - I took it to a shop to compress the springs - when I switched to the 790 coils - I got a better spring compressor.

Thanks for the help, that answers a lot of my questions. The spring compressor I have is the real deal wall mount pneumatic one so I don't think I should have too many problems but I won't say that for sure until all is done.

Thanks again.

Mike
