 ........ Sometimes it takes a little while to do things right, but still do it on the cheap!! I (we) need finish getting the radiator support modified and make new brackets now. Some of the fab work I get done at work, but haven't been able to get to it. I did repair the oil pan this week at work. (Too cheap to buy one!) Anything on the KJ itself I have to arrange to bring home the MIG from work which can take a week to arrange  . .... Ya, I guess my timeline estimate WAS just a little off , huh?

LMAO, no worries, my bumper has not had any work done to it in sometime either. Well, I did start the catch assembly but...yeah...you saw on FB the issues of late so everything was put on way back burner. Luckily wife got the green light for work so all is slowly getting back to normal. :)

Oh GOD!!!! I hope it don't take that long for mine!!!!! :ROTFL:

Ordered up a new alternator for the SBF last night. Got a nice pretty chrome one!! That should make it work better!!

Seriously, got a 1 wire aternator coming, it's a 100 amp low RPM cut-in, and yes it's chrome!
- from the catalog -
"A one wire alternator has a turn on point (sometimes called "cut in", which is typically about 1200 engine RPM). We have developed rotor poles and stator stacks that carry a higher magnetism thus providing an instant regulator cut in without engine acceleration. All of our 1-wire alternators are manufactured with this exclusive low cut in feature at 880 engine RPM which is much lower than any other alternator (of its type) sold. This is the speed where the internal sense circuitry connects the battery to the voltage regulator, thereby turning the alternator on. Once the voltage regulator turns on, the alternator will remain on and charging until the engine comes to a complete stop."

Also ordered a set of valve covers and a new thermostat housing.

I ... KNOW ... the valve covers will make it run better 'cause they say "Ford Racing" on them! :ROTFL: ---- Take that Tahoe! :-)r

Well, it's Saturday and I didn't have to work today, so I spent the day outside! Got a few things accomplished today!

I went ahead and pulled all the old power steering lines off the body (been kinda working around them!). Got the driver's side radiator support cut for a little extra side to side room for the radiator. This will eventually be reinforced with 16 gauge sheet metal.
Image

Tommudd came by and brought a small MIG welder for me!!! Everything has a price tho'! Started getting part of the front suspension torn down with Tommudd's prodding! In the process I discovered this:

Image

Guess it's time for Al's Arms!

The stock A-Arms were bottoming out on the pockets so I started cutting them out also. I hope everyone knows by now .... even a simple mod like that takes on a whole different meaning to me! The bottom of the pocket will now be lowered 3-1/4" for the front and 2-1/2" for the rear arm bushings! The pockets will be rebuilt with 12 gauge sheet metal. There are some other things going on that prompted this mod............ but we'll talk about that later!!!!

Rear Pocket marked for cutting
Image

Front Pocket marked for destruct ..... errrr ..... modification
Image

After I worked on it!!

Closer Shot

And so the modifications continue !!!!!!!!
