Definitely +1 on the Hankook's. Factory tire size is LT rated and the 245's are a little bigger and not LT's, and ride very well. 10k on them and they are wearing great. I usually am very hard on tires...

They work great at 14 psi on the soft sands here in NJ. Dig in better better then the BFG AT/KOs that I use to have. Fantastic in the rain. They are surprisingly quiet and smooth on the highway. Have been getting great wear as well.
Looking forward to the winter :5SHOTS:

Also found out back when I was in the research phase of purchasing my tires that there are many online retailers that offer GREAT deals on tires. Be careful in that these steep discounts are offered because they buy back old stock tires from other tire retailers that are unable to unload them.

I run those on my Ram CTD. They've been great, and wear well on such a heavy truck. Plus they are "E" rated (in 285, anyway).

Hankook ATM RF10 specify the ideal tire pressure to be 90 pct of max load pressure. Since the max load pressure is 80 lbs, we are looking at 72 lbs. pressure.

Does anyone run that? Or how do you calculate the tire pressure, based on weight, I would think the lower the weight the lower the air pressure.

Anyone have suggestions/guidelines for determing best pressure.

If tried 35-40 with the 215/85/16s and was feeling like I was rolling around. 80 all around, I thought I was going to skate off the road and the Traction Control was coming on frequently even on dry highway.

Right now I am at 70 front, 65 back, when I tow I'll up to 70 in the back also.

Drop the coinage on the Michelin LTX tires. They are worth every penny. I've got 20k on mine and wear is virtually undetectable. Vehicle ride is incredible compared to the Goodyear tires and traction in winter and wet weather is great.

IF I had $800 laying around, I'd be all over the LTX AT2s like Lindsey Lohan on a beer.

But alas, we mere mortals are relegated to the tires that don't require a home equity loan to purchase. :|
I've always bought tires at Discount Tire. When I replaced the Yoko's I bought there with the LTX's, they gave me a prorated refund on the Yoko's that amounted to about $200.

Striper,
I run my Hankooks at 35 all the way around. I did not get the light truck or E load rated tires. I can see if you have the E load rated and you are running them at that pressure.

AZ, I have the E Rated ATM RF 10's 215/85/16's anything under 40 lbs feel like I am sliding around. at 70 lbs on the front, 65 on the back the CRD drives nicely, a little stff in the front. I'll try next fillup at 65 on the front.

I finally got around to putting a new set of tires on. I went with Kuhmo Solus KR21 tires in 235/70-16 size.

I absolutely love these tires and they were inexpensive (about $100 each at Wallymart). They are very quiet, totally changed the ride for the better and stick like glue in the wet. The old Coopers were absolutely scary to drive on wet roads.

I also had a 'proper' 4 wheel alignment done by Blake at Accurate Auto Body in Nashville. I would recommend this guy to anybody in the area and they only charge $69.95 (any vehicle)! The last (crummy) alignment was done at a Midas shop and it was a total waste of money.

How odd.

I just replaced a set of LTX AT tires that I got 95,000 miles on, a fair amount of that towing a 5,000 pound travel trailer. And I don't run them 'till bald, I replace them when the tread gets down to the bar. I certainly expect to get more than 40,000 miles out of the AT2s!

What on earth were you doing with them to only get 40K? The guarantee is (I believe, I'd have to look it up) either 60K or 80K.

For occasional offroad, icy roads, wet roads, nothing can beat Goodyear Duratracs they are friggin amazing. I've got 90000 miles on my 215/85/16's and they still have 3/8" of tread left. 90 percent of all oil riggers, farmers and police now run them up here, they are everywhere but often backordered at the dealer.

Wait... 90,000... MILES or KM?

That is a little beyond what I would expect for ANY tire life if it is miles.

FYI: Tires are also measured in x/32 of tread depth, and most tires come new with 1/2" or 16/32" of tread depth, the markers will usually be placed with about 2/32 remaining. For you to have 3/8, that would be 6/32 of tread, which is a decent amount... But after 90,000... If that is Km, then that is almost 60k MILES, which is impressive indeed for tread life.

My current BFG Commercial T/A Traction Mud/Snow tires started off with 18/32" of tread, which I thought was great for almost the same price as other tires that had 15/32 or 16/32, I get more life. They currently have just about 60,000 MILES on them, and are within 1/32 of hitting the markers.

I had Goodyear Silent armor 235/70/16 on mine when I got my jeep they were on since sometime after new since the first owner had the dealer replace the wrangler st for being total junk I guess. So when I got them they were great in the summer and dry pavements, ok for some of road. they had almost 40K on then and did when my first winter was coming. I didn't care for the wet handling so I got new tires.

I was on a budget and not able to get sam's club to put on what I wanted so what I got was Hercules Terra Trac AT from a local indie tire place out in the country. got 245/70 and they been wearing good with rotation at every oil change.

Hancook yeah those look nice I wanted them too. but more money at the time.

I put on 4 BFG LT/TAs (109T, 60K miles) in 235/75/R16 this morning. I had the same tires previously in 225/75/R16 and they lasted the full 60K. Anyway, I was concerned about the fit, but these went on fine and no rubbing at full turn or over bumps. (stock suspension and wheels)
