 Post subject: Off-road/AUX/Extra lights?
PostPosted: Sat Nov 06, 2010 6:22 pm
Among a whole bunch of other things, Im considering some extra lights. I would mount them on my front bumper and I would probably either use a mounting bar I saw on here or just get some brackets from the hardware store and do it that way.

My question is, how difficult is it to wire the lights to the buttons on the panel in front of the shifter (where the ESC is)?

Pull the radio bezel to take a look. I don't think putting switches there would really work out too well

In mine, there are open switches between my ESC and hazards. I was going to use one of those if I could figure out how. I can take a picture if it helps.

It won't work. :furious: Unless you know your way around a circuit board really, really well.
The switches down there are directly connected to a circuit board. Cutting the face where there is no switches is more than likely to also destroy the boards circuitry.

Yep. Pissed me off to when I did the rack lights...
I ended up putting the switches inside the holder to the left of the steering wheel.

Thats pretty sweet. Im having a hard time finding a way/place to mount lights as well. Id like to put them on the bumper but I cant find any brackets that will work.

One thing I have seen is using the light brackets from the compass/patriot

i'll post a pic tomorrow of where my switches are bnut for now i can tell you that they are mounted to the strip connected to the dash.. if you look past the steering wheel you will see an inch tall strip... i have 4 switches ( 2 on each side) there and i also have one in the little pull out storage compartment also

Dirty-
I was looking around on here and found some pictures of your kk. your light set up is just about exactly what I was hoping to do.
So, a have a few questions.
1-is that the bar off a wrangler hood? was it hard to mount the lights to it?
2-How long did it take you to do all of it, start to finish?
3-Does adding them void the (or any off the) warranty?

Thanks,
Greg
