could be the torque converter... just sayin'

Probably a question born from ignorance as to how a TC works (but that's why I love this forum!): why would I feel this shudder only when I brake? If the TC was misbehaving, wouldn't I feel it consistantly in the same RPM/gear ranges, especially on acceleration?

I'm having this same problem. Under moderate to heavy braking, the steering wheel will shake. When I resume speed, the steering wheel will be wobbling slightly. After a few more normal stops it seems to go away. I was thinking tie rods, hub/bearings, cv joints, ? I'm interested in more input on this subject.
This @#$% JEEP has as much quirky personality as my old 40's, 50's english cars.
It's a real love hate relationship and everyone tells me it was a questionable venture...

Ha! I agree. Every week I seem to flip-flop between "love it!" and "darn, there's a reason why I leased my last car". Convertible Mini Cooper S by the way--loved it, but not so good for hauling my boat. :?

Had gone through the same problem with my 06 crd. The culprit is definitely the sliding pins.

The outside front pads worn to the metal while still having .125 on the inner pads, both sides, causing uneven rotor temperature rise on each side of it.

Someone said earlier to remove the rubber insert from the top pin. It works to do that but darn, both of them were so rusted in their sockets !!! (front and rear).

Cleaned the sockets, changed the pins, and pads. everything is fine now.

It's not my brakes. Pads are fine. Perfect actually and even tried a new set with no issues. If the calipers were stuck, the rotor would be super hot, using a temp gun, all temps are normal. There is no excessive brake dust as was the case when a rear froze on me several years ago. I am under the assumption that it's the torque convertor and will try pushing the dealer to replace under warranty. From what I am reading it makes the most sense.

I'm thinking it might be the brakes on my JEEP. This morning I was travelling at 65 mph, 6 below zero F, and the front end started vibrating. I tapped the brake hard and it quit. Another 150 miles today and no shaking.
