Jaymie,
Well, i can tell you from intimate experience, once you "accidentally" push the grommet through to the otherside
it's a monkey business to get it to reseat
If you can get a piece of a coathanger, sharpened, to press a hole in the outer edge before the lip, then turn it around put the other end through, curl the hanger end into a loop, put your power wire through the loop, crimp it good, then pull through from the engine bay
the method can be a pain, but it will self seal around the wire, grommet material is VERY flexible
I made the mistake of pushing mine through at one point, the coat hanger method is rather reliable, only had push-throughs on 1 out of 20 passes on varying vehicles
and if you have to, two similar coat hangers, with a L bent in the end, will serve to pull the grommet back in if necessary - it's dang near impossible to reach from the engine bay
Maybe I'll get brave and try it again when spring gets here. The only exposed wiring is what you can see when you open the drivers door - less than 6". The wiring doesn't get pinched right now. I don't like the unfinished look to it though.
It can be done Jayme, I have part of my lights ran through that way. I did like Jarhead stated and used a wire clthes hanger worked great but yes if the plug would come out I could see where it would be a bear to reinstall
