I finally have both the upper a arms (thanks Will!) and lower ball joints. Anyone around to help/show me how to do this? I've got a space heater :D

any time is good for me - this week I'm free Saturday. Then I'm free after 6pm on weeknights and totally free on Saturdays and Sundays.

I'm game Saturday

now that I can actually get out of the garage :P

had to put new garage door gears in the garage door opener, and fix it so that it opened up higher, pretty sure my roof rack hitting the garage door schmegged the gears lol

Lol KJ vs garage door - that's a new one :)

Saturday works for me. What time? Besides parts, what would you like me to bring? Soda? Snacks? Oh yeah, directions?

Oh you've got a space heater and no garage, that's backwards! :P I've got a garage and no heater haha

Can use my garage or Jaymie's if she decides she's bored enough since she's closer to your location since it's going to need to be aligned, doesn't matter to me where

I live off of mountain dew, that's about it :P

I don't care where, or when, i'm just game to help regardless. If it involves working on Jeeps I'll actually get out of bed at a decent hour :P

Biggest concern, is alignment, I'm in 60517 woodridge, which is borderline too far to drive it without an alignment without it chewing tires

Yeah, I moved from a house to an apartment complex, so no garage though I do have a reserved parking space :D The space heater is nothing fancy, oil filled plug in version, but it works. After working in the KJ at Steves I realized heat is good :D

I think Jayme is busy the next few weeks :(

As for an alignment, is there an NTB or Sears auto somewhere? I'm willing to go that route just to get the torn upper ball joint fixed - it's patched with RTV and scares the heck out of me to drive that way for any extended period of time.

Yeah there's a couple NTB's around here, closest one is about 13 miles away, easy trip though, nothing over 45mph

There's probably something closer, but I have no clue of what or where. I still don't know this area real well

Hmmm let's set something up for saturday at your garage (I'll buy lunch/dinner for you and anyone who shows up to help, and I'll bring you some Dew :D). Besides parts and space heater, please let me know if you want/need me to bring anything. We can just see if anyone else wants to come out. Does that work for you?

That works for me, anytime after 8am is fine

and anyone and everyone welcome

come to think of it, will need to rent the LBJ presses, autozone back in NC carried both for rental and there's one right down the street, will need that to press out the old and the other press to press in the new - I had hydraulic shop presses before i moved, now I think I'm down to a framing C-Clamp, i'm sure we'll figure that one out

worst case we get the UCA's done, optimal, we get it all done

I'll try to run up to AZ today (friday) and see if they have them and reserve them for saturday if they do

At this point it's just UCAs and lower ball joints. Do I need to rent something from AZ/Advanced? What do I need to rent? (sorry, been up since 5am & think my brain has stopped functioning at it's normal capacity)

I can do 10am or later on Saturday.

I'll check AZ today and see if they have the kit for you to rent, they typically have a kit that covers 8859-1 8859-2 and 8859-3 plus the press C4212F, which none of it is more than a heavy duty C-Clamp, socket press and receiver

10am or later is fine, I won't be going anywhere

If you were asking at the parts store about what to rent, it would come out somethin like this.. and these are my words

Hey "guy that's going to look at me weird"...

Got the press removal and installation kit for the lower ball joints on a XX year model Jeep Liberty ?

Response: Uh, i need to know Irrelevant information..

*Answer irrelevant information*

Yeah here's a plastic box with a C-Clamp and 6-12 different adapters and thingys..

"Thanks."

Oh and I learned the hard way not to pay cash for rental tools, if you bring them back after they make the cash drop, you end up having to go back the next day because they don't have enough cash on hand to refund your cash

Go figure, credit card driven society :P

Ann, sorry I will be flying out of Milwaukee Sat early afternoon, or I would be there to help out. Hope everythings goes smoothly.

Hit the bolts up with PB blaster or similar and then hit the UCA bolts in the engine bay with some brake cleaner to try and get some of the build up off, specially on the driver side since those ones are the pain to get off.

You guys have fun and take some pics.

No Firestone locations near Woodridge for alignment?

the only thing firestone related in 60517 that came up was the bridgestone firestone thing over at 355 and I'm pretty sure that place isn't an alignment shop or tire store, I'm pretty sure it's a warehouse

I'm going to check the local advanced and az tonight to see if they've got it. (cross fingers)

Just to clarify, we are talking tomorrow, right? Call it 10:30am (allows for traffic & "limping" KJ speeds or lack there of)
