a tug would never make it there, too shallow. were calling in a helicopter. :ROTFL:

seriously though. just made a trip out to the woods to get the recovered one off the trail. took an hour to get out there, 3 to get back. tomorrow the kid is getting a hold of some steel cable and gonna try winching it in again during low tide. hes gonna attempt to get it out to salvage some of the parts off it, but hes already said its gettin junked if it gets out. said he might as well get a jeep now.

Wow What can I say!! I know that spot very well by land and water! At high tide at that distance out this time of year it would be about 4 to 5 five feet and very salty! Who are they? I will be up that way on sat.

These are on their way out and before getting stuck, you can see from the other pics how far they ended up burying themselves and this is before the tide came in. Before the only reason i backed into the water was so i could have the winch in front of me so i could recover myself. With them two stuck in the water we couldnt afford to get the last vehicle stuck also.

im looking at those pictures and am still dumbfounded that someone would willingfully drive out there like that...

Im a huge offroading fan... but what was the point of that?

I keep saying the same thing. Everybody does. I told them they were retarded before they went.

The plan was to get it out for the insurance company. He definitely screwed up by trying to get out when he was already stuck, just made it worse. We could not recover it because straps kept braking. Digging around the wheels and all that did not help. The kid is having to take out a loan to pay to have it recovered by a boat salvaging company. The one that is out will crank over if power is applied directly to the starter he just has to work out the electrical nightmare now. Not to mention salt water inside of his drivetrain. It was due for a motor swap anyway at 340k miles!

Well at least its not a new 4runner..... with 340k miles, the damage done to the frame and other components (axles, brakes, etc) probably wouldn't even be worth an engine/trans swap anymore. Pay for the recovery and start fresh.

FWIW, my wife loves the pics of your Liberty on the beach

ill have to show my buddy that vid, pretty crazy.

the one is running, drives fine. there are a couple electrical gremlins to be worked out yet though. interior has been pulled for cleaning, the floor will be herculined. the exterior and undercarriage have thoroughly been cleaned. hes on his 4th cv already and has a torn boat full of salt water, replaced all of the ball joints and tie rods recently which are now squeaking. planning a sfa swap on 37s in the future, should make a sweet trail rig. i may have to pick up a toyota, things a beast. granted his didnt see near the amount of water or time in water as the other had.

They should of just set up a snatch block line it probably would of only taken three and a nice heavy chain or 2. But it would of taken forever to get it back into shore with that much gear reduction. But still stupid as he!! on thier part soft sand and water just not a good mixture and then salt water to top it off. But i want to see the shipping companies recovery of it a can promise it won't be gental.

The winch was doing fine and didn't need reduced with a snatch block. And a chain or 2... do you see how far that is? I'm not exaggerating when I say it was 150 yards because it was at least that. Ill see what I can do about getting back out for the recovery of it but I'm on 12 hour shifts right now and have no idea when its happening or if it already has.
