so ive owned a wrangler for years and can always find an accessory for whatever i need ... just bought a 06 liberty renegade and am wondering how to mount my hi-lift to the hood like i had on my yj ... i know theres no hinges to mount to but im curious as to if the liberty's hood is strong eoungh to mount to ... maybe if i reinforce the mounts someway ???

any suggestions on how to get this done ??? or if yal know of a premade mount for the liberty give me the link

thanks yal

Better place in the KJs is under the back seat
if you have a 48 inch Hi Lift
fits great, won't rust up, out of sight,
just another option
There is bracing under the hood which may hold it,
but the hood may not stay up with the extra weight on it
I can think of better places but.....
I have big holes in my hood
so...drill away

I've been considering this myself.......I really like the look, I just haven't got around to figuring out how I would want to accomplish this.....post pics if you do it I would love to see how it turns out.

I've seen them on bull bars, front bumper area, coming off the spare tire, on a swing arm on the rear bumper, and in many different ways for the roof rails, but not the hood. Good luck, I hope it works out great.

make sure if you put it on the hood, your going to have to look out for the hi lift not to rust onto the paint on the hood and ruin the hood paint...just my :2cents:

I've got a All J's rear rack and the Hi Lift fit perfectly in the front of it.

i would think that mounting it on the hood would block your view out the front. i would just stash it under the seat. no rust, no vision ploblems, no theft, no hood falling on your head from the extra wieght on the struts, and no holes in your hood that may not work in the end. But its your Jeep , and if it makes you happy.

that product that bunkermonkey posted looks like it would work well with my carrier setup which has a square steel bracket that mounts behind the tire and protrudes from the center which holds my license plate

Looks OK ... I guess. Like to see a couple more pics, maybe it would grow on me. Which brand brackets did you use. I actually looked at a couple different ones myself a while back. Unless you plan on swapping gears and actually cutting ( not just trimming ) fenderwells stick to the 32's at the MAX. I had to cut EXTENSIVELY on my fenderwells and put on 1.25" Spidertrax to keep mine from rubbing. Even then, I almost totally lost the use of OD with the 33's. Unless I was going downhill, over 65 with a tailwind it wouldn't hold OD.

If you are going with 3 inches of lift 32 are going to rub in the front wheelwells front and rear
Also if going to 32's you'll need to regear to 4.10s if you ever want to use OD again

the hood mount, if you like it that's all that counts isn't it
for me it would bug the H out of me having to look over and around it all the time plus the extra weight on the hood
