I took this picture today with My Iphone traveling I-275 in SE Michigan today. There was a convoy of three Wrangler CRD's with manufacturers plates. I slowed down, took the picture, and gave the lead driver the thumbs up! (and then cried a little inside)

I see the Wrangler's are still having problems with overflow when filling up

Like most, I'll keep waiting for an OEM-equipped oil-burning Wrangler.

Notice the reflectors in the sides of the bumper? See how the license plate is on the center of the bumper instead of below the left tail light? That's an export.

Sorry guys...

Im a noob here but heard from neighbor who works for chrysler that "they are putting a diesel in the wrangler real soon.". I work contract for GM and personally know that there are diesels slated for a couple vehicles for the states. Hopefully this is true for the wrangler as well.

The JK won't be following the Grand Cherokee anytime 'soon' unfortunately...

Remember this, the EPA is our worst enemy, this one agency is responsible for lost jobs here due to lack of production for diesel powered vehicles in the USA, The EPA does everything it can to stop production here by instrumenting over burdening regulations on our auto makers of their domestic vehicles that run on diesel, plain and simply put, politics! Get rid of the EPA, and then we'll be free to develop the kind of diesel power plants that actually work like the ones they build here and ship out of this country instead of selling them here! :pepper:

I've driven the Wrangler CRD 6 speed manual down here in Australia a few times and it is fantastic. I wish our Libby in the US came with a manual.

Has anyone ever transplanted a CRD from a Libby to a Wrangler in the US?

Josh

Thanks Pipo. Can't the POMs get teh Wrangler with the CRD? How hard would it be to get one from Australia and bring it up? We had some mates here who brought their Rover up to the UK with them and said it was fairly easy.

Josh,
we get the New Wrangler JK here in the UK & the rest of Europe no problem at all. I was talking about the old TJ to be converted to CRD, the new ones there plenty around.
Sales might drop a bit on CRD here in the UK due to the fact that the maximum towing capacity legaly allowed for the 2012 model has been brought down from 3500 kg to 1000 kg due to emission!! But if you buy a pre 2012 are good to go. Maybe one day I will buy one with 3 dr pre 2012, so that I can still town my caravan okay.

Is that because of your carbon tax that the towing capacity was dropped (the amount olf tax per mile (I assume that you still use the English system of measuring distance of 5280' rather than the French system based on 1000 metres) based on the amount of fuel burnt with up-to 2200 lbs towing capacity)? It is still 5000 lbs in the US (we still proudly use the English system rather than the French... sad to see that the English have adopted the French system as well.) for the Liberty and I assume the same for the Wrangler. I'm not sure what it is here in Australia - the laws for that sort of thing are so complex that most cops and the motor rego depatment seldom know.

Thi smay be a good donor vehicle if someone wanted to do a transplant:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200767201153 ... 1438.l2649

The Aussie dollar is just about even right now and so long as the vehicle is driveable it could be brought over roro or pulled apart here for the drive train.
