My CRD has experienced every one of those problems that the TSB is supposed to address. Glow plug. Brake switch. And of course the on-going torque converter.... I am hoping that my repair history will speak for itself in getting this TSB applied...
What issues or symptoms have you seen with the torque converter?
The "studder" between 50 and 60 mph, and very erratic and frequent shifting between 50 and 60 mph. They claimed it was just unfortunate transmission programming along with torque converter lockup timing...
I just got back from having the TSB done, and I am happy to say that it is like diriving a different vehicle. Well, not exactly - but close.
I was able to set cruise control at 55, and NO SHIFTING! Previously, anywhere in the mid 50s the transmission could never pick a gear and would shift up and down almost constantly. Now, I was able to keep speed at just about anywhere in the 50s and it would only up or downshift occasionally and when you would expect too. A VAST improvement.
I could not reproduce the "shudder" between 50 and 60 after hard acceleration. I did not have much time to try this, only once or twice... So I will have to try further. But it is a good sign, as I used to be able to make it happen almost on command.
And finally - I noticed it felt like there was a lot less action when cruising in the city around 30 and 40 mph... The whole shifting pattern and transmission behavior feels more refined and makes more sense... But that could just be me looking for good things - placebo and all...
I can't speak to the changes it makes with respect to glow plugs or brake switches - but I have had both replaced, so I hope that the fixes did something.
When my dealership saw the TSB they *called me* and had me come in...
I will have to do more highway testing and follow up....
