Over the last week I have had to add a little water/coolant to the CRD. No drips under the Jeep, no 'mocha' in the oil but maybe some darkened bits in the coolant. This AM had much more than the short puffs of white smoke while starting, DW followed me and it took a couple miles before it stopped. Worried about the head gasket going. Took the CRD to a dealer to have glow plugs installed and asked them to check out the cooling system/head gasket. They said they tested for the head gasket (I assume this is a standard radiator pressure test, is there another?) and it looks OK .
No other codes than the GPs, no water in fuel signal although it has been raining here so maybe water got into the system some other way? Anything to look for when I get the CRD back?

How many miles on your vehicle and has the coolant flush maintenance been done? Water in fuel is known to casue white smoke, but I had air in my fuel last year that caused white smoke, check your fuel filter for leaks and is the fuel filter and related fittings on tight? Make sure you have tight seals and get rid of the air.

Miles=86K, no coolant change yet, holding out for one of then neat custom thermostats. I will pay more attention to the air in fuel issue. I have been pumping out a bit more air lately. Usually I just do it once in a while, maybe every couple weeks, just to keep the pump firm. But lately have done it a bit more and thought I might be headed for a aux pump, which hasn't been needed, maybe until now. The fuel filter is the new model and it doesn't look like any leaks right there.

:ROTFL:

Now that is funny.

I had a coolant leak that was difficult to find at first. The OEM 3/8" spring clamps around the coolant hoses on the top and bottom of the plastic reservoir lost their strenght.

The drips were only visible when the engine reached high temps and pressure, I replaced the spring clamps with 3/8" strap clamps and the problem was gone.
