Looking for the measurement at the highest point on the KJ after a lift (I'm guessing it would be the roof rails)to the ground. My garage door opening is only 6.5ft in height so I didn't want to install the lift and not be able to get it out of the garage  Thanks.

Thinking about the Frankenlift but might go with just the OME spring lift if clearance will be a problem.

Yeah..... I'd never, ever, ever, ever, never, ever live it down if I install a lift and then can't get it out of the garage.

ETA: nevermind, saw you posted what lift your running. Thanks.

Look at not only how tall they are and what lift but also what size tires. some difference there as well

Heres my :2cents:
I have a 2.5 daystar lift on my with 245/70/16(basically 30x9.5) tire size and id say i have just about 6 inches of clearance with a 7 foot garage doors, with my snowboard rack on i have just an inch of clearance with no boards in it, and with one board in it, bindings up, i cant get out of the garage, only when the board is upside down in the rack i could exit.

Hope this helps any :SOMBRERO:

Gotcha....I'll have to keep that in mind too. I don't have any roof racks, just the stock roof rails. I was hoping to be able to go to a taller tire after the lift though.

Also, I've noticed (by stopping and actually measuring) that some places label the max height a little lower than what it actually is. Probably to save their own rear ends.

Not a practical daily solution, but if you put the lift on, and couldn't get out, you could let the air out of the tires.

Just installed OME lift and 245 75 16 Maxxis Bighorn tires. 76" (6'4") from the ground to the top of the stock roof rails.

Hope that helps. 8)

Thanks, it does help. The 245/70's = about 31 inches tall right ?? I was hoping to get a 31" tire on it without having to pound down the pinchweld. I like the lift from the kits but the switch to a bigger tire would raise the ground clearance of both the diffs. instead of just raising the height of the jeep within it's suspension.

ETA: Overall plan is to decide on the lift then get a set of Moabs for it and then look at the tire options. Figured this way made the most sense because I won't know what tire I can run till after the lift, but I'm willing to trade max lift height to get a taller tire since that would provide the most overall ground clearance.

LMFAO, it would be funny if you got the lift on and could not get out of the garage. Mine clears the garage easily however when I fabbed up my rear bumper we did not take that into account and my hi-lift scrapped the rubber seal on the door, lol. We actually have to lift the door just a tad by hand, maybe 1/8".

Had a friend lift his truck without taking the garage door height into account. :banghead:
After lift installation & 37 inch tires, the truck was a good 8 - 10 inches taller than the door. :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

He was just about to grab the chain saw, when his 8 year old daughter asked,
"Daddy, can you take the tires off??"

From the mouths of babes.........

We pulled the 37's, put the stock rims (no tires) on the truck, and pushed it out of the garage
and into the driveway with less than an inch to spare. :pepper:  :pepper:

After that, he built a new garage in back with a 12 foot door!!! :JEEPIN: :JEEPIN:

Thanks, it does help. The 245/70's = about 31 inches tall right ?? I was hoping to get a 31" tire on it without having to pound down the pinchweld. quote]

You're way off on tire height
245-70-16= 29.5
255-70-16=30.2
245-75-16=30.5 ( most used tire with a lift)

Great thread. I've been worried about the same thing as I swear my garage door is only 6' but maybe is about 6.5'. I'll have to measure now when I get home to be sure. I'm currently running 245/70's and will for a while. My plan was OME/Bilstiens with 3/8" clevis and one extra iso per side. Based on others measurments of lift (center of wheel to fender) I should just be able to make it if my pre lift measurements are correct. I figured if it doesn't quite make it after lift hopefully it will after it settles.

In a worst case scenario I could take the roof rails off. If I did that what should I put in the holes to keep water out?
