Well, I intended to take Stanley up to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, but our plans changed. And Although we didn't even take the Jeep due to gas mileage/prices, Stanley did get to go on a nice trip.
Before the big trip, Stanley tried to stow away on our day of kayaking. However, I made him sit this one out since I wasn't sure of his swimming abilities.
So Stanley decided to try stealing my sister-in-law's Wrangler. Luckily he was a little short on one end to actually get away.
Once we actually got on our trip, Stanley turned out to be very patriotic. He insisted we get a picture of him with Mount Rushmore.
Once we got done taking in all that Mount Rushmore had to offer, we went to see the Crazy Horse monument.
The next day we went to Devil's Tower.
Stan was overwhelmed.
We spent one night in a tipi in near Custer, SD. Stan and my 7 year old daughter both thought that was pretty cool.
In Custer State park we seen some of the local wild life. I think Stan tried to make a poker joke. I think he said something about a pair of aces...
Stan was feeling his oats here. I had to hold him back because he thought he was going to try to ride the biggest buffalo he could find.
Once I got Stanley back in the car, we went for a drive and found this tunnel in the Black Hills.
We decided to cool Stanley off by taking him down in the Sitting Bull Crystal Cavern. They say it's a cool 45* down there.
We stayed in a small cabin next to Ft Hays. They used the main building in the movie Dances With Wolves. Stan was absolutely stoked!
Stan really took to my little girl. So he wanted a picture of the two of them where Kevin Costner's character got his orders to head out on the prairie.
All in all, we had a great trip with Stanley even without the KJ along. I'll be contacting the next in line so Stanley can begin another adventure soon.
