Its a taurus 24/7 OSS .45acp 12 + 1. Right now I switch between 230 grain JHP's and FMJ's, going to focus more on FMJs at the range since they are cheaper.

getcha some pro-gold frame grease if ya don't have any and a brass/bronze barrel brush and patch puller

you'll find some spots after 500 rounds or so that will benefit from something heavier than CLP

have the same pistol in stainless .40 and the mini version slim 9

you should enjoy the integral slide lock, much more convenient than trigger locks

Yeah I have a nice cleaning kit and that trigger lock is just what they put on at Bass pro for mall safety. By law since the store is in the mall. But for now I do not have a lock on it as its my night stand home defense and the mags are loaded with 230 grain JHPs (not in the gun or anything chambered). I dont have kids and its just the wife and I so I want fast easy access in an Oh Crap situation. Nothing like having to fumble with a lock and being shot in the process.

I take VERY good care of it and things will obviously be different when I have kids.

When I was a kid all of my grandparents and great granparents had loaded guns all over the house. When I was a kid I could have grabbed my grandfathers 30-6 over his bed but I didn't because I was taught gun safety at a very early age. Does that mean I will do as my old fashioned grandparents did? No. But I will instill a fear and knowledge of guns to my children they will never forget just like what was done to me. From it comes a very healthy respect for the firearm and the knowledge to handle, own and fire one.

yeah maryland is right behind california for strict gun control. 7 day wait period which is realistically 10+ days. I was lucky and got mine in 10 days...

We have a 7 day wait period on top of having to get a thorough background check, psych check on top of the usual federal checks. So in reality youll be lucky to get your handgun 8-10 days after your purchase, and weekends dont count. If I wanted say another handgun Id have to wait 30 days to start the process again.
