Stock or lifted
lifted 8 inch possibly depending on backspacing
9 inch I doubt, too wide
what size tire are you wanting to run?

from what I gathered here you can just about get by with the 16x8 MOAB wheels and stock tires and depending on how much suspension sag you have from age you will just barely make it.

stock tires are too narrow for Moabs

I think on a KK, at full lock, you are going to rub no matter what, even just a little, the wheel wells are a little more narrow than the KJs.
For me on the KJ, I never turn full lock, there really isn't a need to. Every now and then I do, but I'm usually going less than five mph.
I wouldn't go larger than 16x8.
The Moabs have been tested that they work. (16x8, 5 inches of backspace)
Also remember the bigger the size of rim, the bigger tire size as well, which translates into more of a rolling resistance, and your truck might start to feel sluggish.
