I'm working on a diagnostic chart for the KJ CRD fuel system. The guide only addresses physical parts of the system and not sensors or electronics.... but will hopefully be beneficial for people who have narrowed their issue (whatever it may be) down to the fuel system. The information in the document has come from the FSM, my personal experience, and the knowledge from members of this forum. Please take a look at it and let me know if you think there's anything I should add, subtract, or modify to make this useful to other CRD owners.

Link:
https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid= ... y=CO3NyM4B

The guide is intended to first rule out simplest, cheapest, and most common issues then to more expensive and complicated ones.

Thanks all.

p.s. I'm not trying to personally gain anything from this ... just trying help institutionalize the wealth of knowledge.

Nice work, sidebrake :google:

May prove useful already for me, need to find reason why prime goes soft after few minutes (no code or apparent air in line)...

Thanks for the compliments.

Does anyone have any ideas for tests on the fuel quantity solenoid or CP3 pump? I've got some thoughts... but they are pretty un-scientific.... any other criticisms or suggestions are very welcome!

Ain't it the truth! I was between phases of a project at work and had a bit of down time. :D But really, doing this kind of thing in Visio doesn't take a whole lot of time. I've had to do much uglier ones for work...

wow great work

I will look more closely when I have more time but I'm thinking maybe adding links to threads that discuss the issues. ie, filter head page could include links to filter head discussion, new part numbers etc. I'm sure lots of the guys here will be able to help track down the best threads. I also have few in mind that will send you if you want to add these.

The page about air in the lines could have links to the tech threads about installing lift pumps.

Just some thoughts, thanks for all the work.

Dean

Great suggestion on adding part numbers. I'll definitely do that! Thanks.

As for the links to LOST threads... It's a great idea, but I'd want to get the "blessing" of the site's owner.
