Anybody know how to totally disarm the auto-lock system in the Libby?
I had the Jeep in the dealers to have a TSB performed and asked them to disarm the auto-lock system. First they said it couldn't be done, but after a little pressure they said they might be able to do it. When I got the Jeep home, I found they had done the lock disarm, but only to the passenger area. I called them to find out what the f%^&-over, and they said that only the passenger area can be disarmed, not the cargo area (rear window and hatch). Since I've lost faith in this Dealer's ability to fix anything on the CRD, I thought I'd check here to see if they were just blowing smoke up my a**. Plus, they charged me $45.00 to do the partial disarm.

The VW station wagons were the same way, must be for safety reasons.

The dealer killed autolock at my request. If you have evic (I don't) there is a way to do it yourself. However, rear gate cannot be cut off from autolock it seems. I guess its some sort of safety issue, but as there is no handle on the inside of the rear hatch I don't know what it could be

You can turn the auto door locks on/off yourself. If you have EVIC, do it easily through there. If not, there is a way to do it with the key in the ignition and a few easy steps. It's all outlined in the owner's manual. However, the tailgate always autolocks. It's ANNOYING but can't be changed.

You can also turn on/off things like seatbelt chime, headlight shutoff, etc.

Praise Chrysler for letting us turn off some of the junk ourselves. On most GM trucks, you cannot disable any of this garbage unless you have a dealer scan tool.

I think it is a safety/security reason.
For the JKs this is the stuation;

Taken from a "JK forum"
--From what I understand and have tried it myself is that once you lock the doors after a little bit power has now left to the power door locks and it doesn't matter if you leave the windows open they can't pop the locks. Look it up here on the forum or just try it yourself.
--It is true I tried it. Left the window open and locked the jeep with remote on key. Stuck hand in after 2 minutes and it wouldnt unlock doors from inside. This is great because I was worried on how it would lock the back part.

The Libertys don't do the same with the power door locks from inside the vehicle, but the tailgate is similar.
