Passenger side cv joint shot. Boot leaking grease.
What's the thoughts for replacement? Stock ride hight.
new? Reman?

Why? Its a crd.
If there is something that is heavier duty due to the added weight of our engines I figured someone on here might have a few tricks.

Never mind JL rockies, he's a bit cranky since he bought a Toyota.

I don't know of any HD CV. Maybe someone else does.

Get a remaned,stay far away from any CV axle labeled "new" and is less then then $400(OEM cost of new) as it's made in china and they can not read very well over there and make them the wrong length all the time.

It's possible all you need is a new boot but I don't know how to test the joint to be sure it's ok. X2 on reman, there is a thread on here somewhere that I cannot find that discusses the problem of "new" CV joint/axle assemblies being too short. Since we know there are short ones in the supply chain I'd recommend careful comparison or measurement of your current one vs whatever you get to replace it with.

Remaned from NAPA and if it is not ticking or you dont here a thunk when you accerlerate forward new boot and grease. I did mine about 3 weeks ago and cut it to prevent binding since i am lifted :twisted:

. Also you can get a new boot for around 30 bucks but make sure to get them from chrysler they are heavy duty unlike NAPAs and a few others i have seen.

Also easiest way to test a CV is to reach in there and grab it and twist there should be a small amount of play grab the other side and compare if there is alot more then it is bad.

So I'm looking at getting just the boot. My problem is, getting just the boot in time as this is my daily driver and without much grease in there I don't know how much damage I'm doing.
For the extra couple of bucks, maybe a NAPA unit and call it a day.
I appreciate the insight as I remember reading that the new units are Chinese crap that aren't the proper length.
Jeepinby Al sure has some nice units, but for my stock ride height wouldn't be worth it

Yeah just get a remaned CV axle,will take like 60mins to swap out.Just doing the boot is a royal pain and then having to fight those stupid clamps that never stay tight.

Looking like NAPA is the way to go for now. With the time it takes to get out and just do the boot, and all the grease leaking out who knows how much damage has been done. For the extra $ I'll replace the thing. Jeepin by Al sure has some nice units.
