Got my adaptor today from Greg and it sure looks good, Greg said to put a couple drops of the synthetic oil on the valve threads before screwing them togather. They were cut to be snug, and when I added some oil from the dipstick it went togather without a problem. Remember these are just firmly snugged togather and do not let the gorillia in you come out durring this install. The actual torque involved should be in the 20 to 25 lb range and anything abouve 30 lbs of torque is likely to cause failure. Now I just need to wait about 3 or 4 months till it's time to change the oil again.

Well I just got done with trying to figure out a good torque value for the adapter. I took it to 50 ft lbs and it still held together. I feel the 30 ft lbs is plenty. Remember if you brake it its your fault and not ours.

Also do what Oldnavy suggested about putting a drop or two of oil on the threads of the valve before turning it into the adapter. The way things are going it looks like I might have to be ordering more adapters.

WOOO HOOO I just received my adapter and valve. Just a quick question. Do I use the lil blue washer that was shipped in between the valve and adapter? And also you said to take the washer of of my OEM plug and put that on between the adapter and the oil pan correct?

Correct on both accounts.

You guys let me know how it goes, I have to wait as I only have about 1500 or 2000 miles on this oil change.

wow, this thing is a bit big  I sure hope it fits in between my skid plate and doesnt hang down to far. Now I havent gone off-roading in my KJ yet, but I sure would like to experience it once I get some lift and tires, and not have it knocked off

If I measured correctly it will be close, the nipple should not extend past skid plate. If it does I will just cut the nipple off mine and that would shotrten it about a half inch, but mine will never be a off road vehicle so I don't expect it to be a problem. If you are a serious rock crawler then you need something better then OEM skid plate, in which case fitting may not be a problem.

Speaking of rock crawling and mud hole swimming, who buys a new $25,000 to $32,000 vehicle for that stuff? Man that's what old used clunkers that you fix up is far.

I dont intend to be as serious as some in here, but I would like to try some small stuff. Because this is my daily driver as well as it is to most I would imagine. I couldnt afford any major catastrophies.

Me, two Saturday's ago. It rained for the first time in 185 days in Phoenix (snowed too). It was a nice mud hole in an old rock quary. I must say the stock tires suck. I got stuck almost, about a foot and a half deep in mud. Rocked it out, probably should have been in 4Lo to begin with. CRD slings lots of mud even with the stock tires though. Lots of fun. :) Forgot the camera :( . Maybe next time.

Well I installed my Fumoto adapter and valve today. Wow this thing is slick! I think I'm really going to like this!

One word of caution...I ordered the one WITHOUT the nipple, and boy am I glad that I did. Without the nipple the bottom of the valve is dead even with the skid plate. So if you slide over a log or a dirt hill or something you should be OK. If it's a jagged rock or a stump it could still potentially go past the cutout hole in the skid plate and damage the valve, oil pan, etc. But for most four wheeling I think it's going to be OK. WITH the nipple there is no way I'd take this Jeep off the pavement. The nipple would completely hang down below the skid plate and would defeat the entire purpose of installing a skid plate in the first place. Just my 0.02.

Well I may be cutting the nipple of mine later, but I think I will install it with the nipple first as this is not a off road vehicle.
It's one of those things about sitting high and not getting stuck in the ocassional snow that makes women want SUV's.

At least it's a soft metal and can easly be hacksawed off in about two shakes of a lamb's tail.

Just to make sure you guys understand... the ones with the nipple WILL work. It's just that they will hang down lower than the skid plate, and the skid plate will not be able to protect the valve from taking a blow off or on the road. So if you guys want to switch to the ones without nipples that's your choice, but I just wanted to make sure you all understand what I mean because I don't want to be responsible for somebody not being happy.

I do really like this valve though. I think it's going to really help keep my hands/arms clean!

I looked at my FUMOTO and it looks like the nipple can be screwed off, but I didn't try because it was kind of cold in the garage and I am just getting over a bad head and chest cold for a second time. Man I'll be glad when this winter weather is over, so I can witch about how hot & muggy it is outside.

Oop's got my train of thought derailed.

Anyway I was thinking the nipple might be screwed back on when getting ready to change the oil, allowing for the use of a drain tube. If I feel better later today, I may give this a try and see if that would work.

If you don't want the nipple just cut it off with a hacksaw. Thats a lot easier and cheaper than swapping it out. I have not see the skid plate and how its attached but can you use some spacers to drop it the 1/2" to cover the nipple? IMHO I don't really think that it sticking through a 1/2" will matter.

Yes spacers could be done, it would just require a run to the hardware store for longer bolts and some spacers. It would require loosening the back end of the front skid, putting two spacers there where the tranny skid and front skid over lap. I don't think it would require spacing the back side of the tranny skid, but if required it's not a big deal to space it either. I think that's what I may do, seems to make more sense to me. Thanks for the idea of the spacers Greg.

Well, I finally got off my duff and ordered mine back on Wednesday. Also got the spring safety clip. Yeah, I know, us bubblehead nukes are just anal when it comes to safety devices. At least I don't call the ignition key the "scram switch". :?

Can someone post a .pdf of the instructions? Mine didn't come with any and I'm itchin to get it on. The reason I ask is that the adapter does not screw into the f108n easily and I don't want to force it. Seems odd that it wouldn't fit...
