New Member + A couple Questions

Hello everyone,

Ive been following this forum for about 4 weeks now after buying a 08 North edition, this forum is great!

I have a couple questions about the libby since I am looking into a lift and bigger tires.

The lift I am interested in right now is a 1.5" OME full kit(coils, struts, shocks) that my local shop sells for $900. would this be a a good kit considering the sag that is in my springs now? and will I be able to fit say, 245/75R16?

Ive thought about the cheaper Daystar lift, but ive been reading alot of negative things about them..
What do you guys think? Im open to suggestions.

Welcome to LOST! There is another member on here who says he is going to run the same ome lift, and i think he is the first gasser kk on this forum to run it, so we are waiting to see the outcome. The kj guys seem to like the ome setup. I myself am running the Daystar and am happy with it so far, but i only had like 3k miles on it when i installed it and am at 9700 now. We'll see what happens. :juggle:

Reading your post again, if you have saggy springs, stay away from the daystar because it will only bring you up a little past stock height. Replacement of springs will throw you up there higher than what the lift is advertised. Jeepin by Al is another lift to consider.

How do I measure my spring sag? Where should I measue what what SHOULD I have?

Measure from the center of the wheel hub to the bottom of your fender flare. When i bought mine w/ 1500 miles on it and nine months old it was at about 18 3/4" front drivers side, 19" front p side, 18 1/2" rear driver side, and 18 3/4" rear p side. The KK sits lower on the driver side from the factory. :dizzy:

Im getting 18.5 in the back and 17.5 in the front, with about 80,000kms.

Still not sure what I want to do for a lift and tires.. I think I want the Duratrac's though..

yeah you sagged alot. factory I believe is 19. I did the OME lift...btw, it says its 1.5" but its 2.5+ I got 4 inches of lift from mine from where it was sagged. You can expect the same. I'm now sitting 22" all the way around. You'll probably be 4.5" higher in the front after you lift...its not day and night its more!!!! it is so amazing to get it up to where it should be after driving on sagged springs so long.

Hello guys. I own a kk 09 but I'm not a off road driver it's my first jeep or car!! Since I bought it back in 09 I only tried to drive on offroad like 3 times ( beaches, not asphalt road)

While I was reading this post I was wondering why u guys would lift your kk and for what??

One of the reasons you lift is for larger tires but the side benefit is way better ride, better handling on and off road if using a full spring lift. Its like night and day from stock springs to aftermarket springs
Each new Jeep I buy I say I'm going to rip the stock crap springs out at 100 miles and upgrade, this time I had to wait less than 20,000 but was still too long

Added ground clearance is a big reason. Overall badassery too.

Sorry to be a bother, So guys.... IF I decided to go with the 1.5" OME lift, do you think I will have any rubbing issues with a 245/75R16 tire size? Can I go bigger?

What about lifespan, or should I say sagspan. Can i expect to have a long life on these springs without running into sag issues?
I'm horrible at making decisions, I always wanna make the right choice.... especially since I'll be putting roughly $2K into it... lol

I do try and do my research, but I find alot of conflicting info, so I figure if I ask specific questions on the application I want that I will get the correct answers...

I welcome any suggestions.

I believe OME springs have the best life, as to actual longetivity IDK

I have OME with extra lift and my 245/75 rubbed a bit on the left and right fender wells and a bit on the pinch weld in the drivers side wheel well as well as both inner pinch welds at full lock. All these are resolved as of now with minor mods but I still have a slight rub on the passenger side of the front swaybar.

Spacers or new wheels help all of the above.

All drivable and wheelable. I went with the highest size recommended here, though I know many have made others work.
