That's 7 power window failures for me since warranty :furious: . Steiger kits in all mine now. I got the extended letter warranty from DC but just didn't like the idea of replacing all tinted windows and using regulators of older design that I think are prone to failure also. Replacing the plastic part that breaks with another plastic part that also is known to break just pushes the problem into the future.

Steigers run about $80 per window and if you buy all 4 shipping is free or it used to be. Installation takes about 45min per window. Be sure the clip fits square behind the ball head, you will know what I mean when you see the instructions. The instructions say to bend the ball head shaft so it's parallel to the ground but aren't clear why; it's so the clip is fully engaged behind the ball. Once the clip is installed it's a good idea to tug on things several times and run the windows up and down about 12 times to make sure the ball doesn't pop loose.

If your windows seem strange it may be because the tracks and windows are not totally in correct alignment. There is an old post on here somewhere to the effect that after proper alignment things work a lot better. I don't recall that post saying how to do the alignment but there may be something in the FSM.

I put in 1 Steiger kit a few months ago before DC extended the window warranty. I put in three more kits last week rather than take the warranty. I paid about $90 per kit.

I have the 2006-7 regulators that do not have the ball connections. The warranty would have changed my windows for the ball connections and put in the older regulators with plastic parts that eventually break.

I was afraid that the warranty program would screw up my factory optional tinted windows, and I just couldn't see putting in plastic parts again.

I now believe my window problems are gone :BINGO: About $350 total and 3 to 4 hours well spent.

What's the deal on the extended warranty. I bought my libby and the driver rear did not work. Can I just take it to them and have it fixed? 140K on the Odometer.

Warranty apparently is for 2006 model year only.

I bought a used 2007 and DC sent me an extended warranty notice... I haven't had any issues as of yet, it only had 10k when I bought it. However, I'm thinking to just upgrade to the steel ones so they shouldn't ever break. It would suck to have a window get stuck down in Seattle...

Just a note ....it's not just the KJ's, I have a Cadillac Catera, German engineered and assembled by M/B in Germany .... Same DAM problem! Plastic parts in the regulator assembly break. My rears need replaced now but ...... regulator replacement is $535.00 for parts alone ..... each!!!!!! :banghead: Guess I just run the AC all the time!!!

OK back to the KJ's! :seuss:

Were they working when you took them in, or did you take it in after a break?
I would love to take my '06 in and just get it fixed without having to wait for another breakage( I can't even remember how many I have been through...7,8,9?).
So, the warranty extension only covers a failure, not repairing current working windows, right?
