Well I have replaced the pulley on my OEM alternator but the pull is bad again, I might have over-tightened it! I was planing on going with the $159 w/ new decoupler pulley but Advanced Auto doesn't have any available. Where should I look next? thanks!

THIS IS FOR MY CRD WITH A HARD TO FIND ALTERNATOR, PLEASE DO NOT MOVE TO THE REGULAR KJ FORUM AGAIN! THANKS.

Maybe try Rock Auto or Moparonlineparts.com

I used this company to replace my wife's alternator on her 07 Grand Cherokee CRD. I was so happy because they had a great price, awesome service, and a great product. Shoot them an email or phone them for a quote for a liberty alternator. They saved me well over 250 dollars over dealer price for a alternator.

Well I found a few online, nothing local yet.
A reman from a site with 36month warranty is $185+core.
A few more remans ranges from $200-400, plus core and dealing with shipping the core!

Jeepcarparts1.com has a new oem for $369 shipped, I don't know what to do. I know I need it now seeing as the decoupler isn't going to last much longer!

I think I called everyone but autozone, they said they can get it in two days, we will see!

Has anyone used an autozone reman alternator one the crd or others vehicles? Have they lasted a decent amount of miles?
I think they all come with new decoupler pulley right?

There is a lot of chat on the forum. Using the search function search for keyword "Autozone" in this forum and then narrow the results to "alternator" to get a feel for the various posts. I know some folks have used this alternator but for how long I do not know.

I called autozone twice to make sure they could get it, they said 2 days. Go into store to order it, not available.... That's autozone for ya. Looks like $360 new is my best option, I hate ordering reman no name brands online!

Ordered a New one from jeepcarparts1.com today, $362+shipping. Not what I wanted to pay but it's new and it's all I could find. I called them (it's the same dealer that runs moparpartsonline) and they said they would need to order it and would take about 2 days, I hope they can actually get it!

Just a warning, if you think you might need an alternator soon you need to order it now or at least before yours fails!!!! I called every local option including dealer ($495) and napa was the only one that had one, it was out of state and had to be shipped to my store and was $360+core and shipping, and it was a reman! So I went new!!!

Hi, Andy!  We can remanufacture the alternator for the Jeep Liberty but it would take us several days to get the cores in here to rebuild.  The cost for the remanufactured would be $122.00 + 30.00 core + Shipping.   Of course, they would get the core value of $30 back if they send their old alternator to us

Another option would be a new alternator.  One of the suppliers we work with is showing to have new aftermarket alternators.  The cost would be $255.00 + $30.00 core + shipping.  Again, the core value would be refunded if they send in their old alternator.

Hope this helps.  If you have more questions or need additional information please let me know

However, this vendor's feedback is not perfect:

Wonder if they just put the old decoupler pulley back on the rebuilt unit. A new pulley is $96 delivered on EBAY:

For the Canucks.....located in Saskatchewan. Looks like they have starters and alternators and even part numbers for individual components. Anyone feel like rebuilding their alternator?

I did find an auction for a reman on eBay but I just don't trust electronics and stuff with limited warranty from eBay or other online stores. Say I buy one from eBay or a small online store, it even has a one or two year warranty... It lasts for 6 months and quits. Now I have to try out this warranty from a store or seller that might not even be around anymore, pay for return shipping while my jeep sits and waits for the replacement for who knows how long.

The oem one should be a no-brain'er and maybe even fix my issue with the lights dimmind intermittently when the hvac blower in on high!
But like I said if you think you might need one soon, (check your decoupler pulley now!) start looking and order one now!
Jeepcarparts1.com was the best deal and I used them for my timing belt part order so I knew they were good.
