That mark means nothing now. There may be once upon a time when this engine may had a real mechanical injector pump, not just a high pressure pump or it just may be the available sprocket. All the other diesel engine that uses the same type of pump don't time it because it's not needed. Can you tell me why we have timing marks on the cam sprockets??

My bad on the comment about pinning the flywheel at 2 o'clock. I somehow managed to do it but rechecking at 3 o'clock found THE right hole for the 6mm allen wrench. A tighter fit too. TB's done, purrs like panzer and finally a thermostat that works!

I had about 110,000 at the change. The belt defiantly needed to be changed, lots of dry-rot and cracked!

wish I knew they during the change, GDE's write up said to watch the fuel pump mark, so I stressed about not moving the pulley while installing the new belt... would have been easier getting the new belt on if I wasn't worried about the pump!
