I guess nearly 7 years of crap under the hood needed to be dealt with, so I man'd up and went to the DIY wash to de mud it, and clean the engine. No before pics (was too embarrassed to take any) but it was filthy. Took some Simple Green, dish soap, and used the high pressure wash from a distance, worked like a charm. Then I topped it off with Meguire's Ultimate Protectant.

Always been scared of spraying water in an engine. My bro's buddy ended buying a new engine after cleaning his!

Looks nice when it is all clean though.

The KJ's air box has a drain, so no issues there. It fired right up. I also covered the alternator....

Thanks

That looks awesome! I need to do mine soon. I probably wont spray it with water though. Just use a rag to rinse off the excess soap.

Fear not when cleaning the engine as long as common sense is used and it's not hot but I guess that falls under common sense :JEEPIN:

Thanks! Also cleaned it on the LR3, and if that can be washed without fail, any Jeep can for sure if done with common sense.

Actually, your battery in the HHR is mounted int he trunk in case you didn't know. Took my buddy 20 mins trying to find the one in his wife's HHR.

I washed the motor in my wife's KJ on Monday night. Used purple degreaser and the hose. Took air hose, blew most of water off, then let it run for a bit. No problems.

Haha yep. The battery is under the big side cover, then the one on the other side is for a 2nd battery. :D
