Thinking of giving this a try: http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/index.htm
Has lots of guages and looks like a nice display. Read reviews on other forums and they say it is accurate. have any of you guys given it a try?

It's. Okay... you have to pick the right setup while programming or it doesn't work right... and it doesn't read all the gauges it says... only about 12 that are relevant to the KJ... I definitely wouldn't pay more than 50 for it... it does read codes...and clears them...but you can do that without it...:2cents:

I've got one in mine, and I like it. Gives you pending codes as well as official trouble codes. Mine works fine and have had no problems with it. Shows enough guages to fill the three pages worth they give you to fill. For the money they are hard to beat. Does what they say it will and much cheper than a Scanguage. Just my opinion though :D

Thanks guys. I think I will give it a try. The most important thing to me is trying to get my mpg as high as possible and I think this will help. Also I am going to play around with my air intake and this has a meter on that as well. should be helpful. I heard these do go for cheaper than listed on the website. is there a coupon code or something?
Thanks

Not sure about a coupon code but I do know they have a rebate you send in for after you recieve your Ultra-Guage. I don't know all the specifics as I purchased mine from a fellow member but as I said before I know I love mine. I snapped a few pics of mine when I got home from school yeah they didn't turn out fantastic but you get the idea of where I have mine and what I have the main page of mine displaying.

I have one that resides in Grumpy, primarily used to monitor fuel usage. I really like the display, but menu interface isn't as nice as a SC2 and I hate the buttons on the back.

My main screen shows RPMs, Instant MPG, Coolant temp, fuel used since fill up, Trip MPGs (reset every trip to see how high I can make it go) and Instant gallons per hour (did you know most vehicle burn .04 gallons less per hour when idling in neutral vs in gear?)

I have lots of driving style fuel saving tips, but I need to head to bed.

I love your clinometer! I was looking at that same one! Now if only this ultra gauge do-hickey had a nice bezel to go in....

Would this happen to work in a CRD? Has enough to justify the price for me, as long as it works at least.

Well i just ordered one to try out on my CRD. If it doesnt have what i like then i can always just return it, but if it has coolant temp the mpg things and what the gassers have, then i'll be happy with it.

The Bullydog Watchdog is basically the exact same thing as well, but with Data logging capability.

Yeah i got it to work on my CRD. you have to force the protocol to the chrysler setting and then it works fine, has been on for about two weeks now and havent had any check engine lights or anything else from it.

Does it stay up and running? Does it cause any random downshifts? What readings does it provide to you?

edit: I decided not to wait for a response and ordered one, I guess I'll find out.

haha you're about as patient as i am with purchases

One of the guys I was at uhwarrie with had a app for his droid or something similar, (big fancy touch screen phone thang) that had a clinometer - was pretty cool, he had a dash mount for it and everything

shouldn't be wheelin and talking on the phone anyhoo so .. loss of use of phone while using it isn't a big deal :P

nothing strange at all with it, just once you plug it in, set it to force the protocol to j1850 or something like that. after that just pick your guages and it will work fine as long as you dont unplug it. if you do unplug it, just force the protocol again and it will be fine.

edit: i get 11 reading, but some are just the same readings twice, so its maybe 5 or six. throttleposition RPM running time ave mph(havent figured out how to set this up yet as well as some others). i just like having something that tells me more info then the four needs on the dash :ROTFL:

FYI - the concern on a CRD will be if it kicks you out of overdrive while on the highway - worse if you're on cruise control - that's the problem with a ScanGauge and suspected of a couple of other units - the constant poling overloads the databus (and the CRD software is already a kluge)

.. well its been about a thousand miles since ive put it on, and tis been cruised at 70 with cruise control a couple times(lengths of 80 miles) and ive never had it randomly kick out of overdrive or anything strange.
