Keith's ECO Tune (GDE) is in Diesel Power magazine again!!

Diesel Power magazine has a project Liberty CRD they have been working with, not a huge article but they do one on the liberty every couple issues. GDE is mentioned in both of the articles I remember, its awesome that they are giving him props! Good work Keith! DP is pointing out some of the CRD's problems such as the MAP sensor and how the tune helps keep it clean, but they also put in a K&N air filter which is disappointing!
Just figured I would mention it, DP is a good magazine for diesel heads but its mostly about the trucks so its nice to see the Liberty in it.

GDE hands down the best tune on the market for our diesels. I'm lucky enough to live within driving distance of Keith and I pick his brain at every chance I can get. The guy knows his stuff.

It's in the October issue, but unless you like reading about the truck diesels you might want to try to find it online because the article is short on the liberty!

Diesel Power was decent a few years back, but for the last 2 years or so it's been nothing more than 200 pages of ads with a few articles thrown in, so they can call it a magazine instead of a catalog.

Very true, too many ads! Also too many high dollar truck builds, i don't really care about the 1000hp trucks that cost as much as my house.
Still a few good articles here and there.

K&N in theory is great, but it lets in SOO much air, that dust particles get by also. So, in a perfect world, or a vacuum, it would work, but not for most vehicles.

K&N are great filters... For a drag race vehicle. They flow great but as already said they do not filter well and that alone can and has destroyed diesels. A k&n on a truck would stop me from buying it!

Stock style filter, but Amsoil brand (I use NAPA, or WIX) would be better. And the V6 air box would be better so you don't suck up water. Or a snorkel kind of turns it into ram induction, or at least has less restriction than stock box.

I would stay away from the cotton gauze oiled filters... Do some research.

Have a look at air filters for most atv 's and heavy equipment. If it isn't made entirely from foam it is most likely pleated "paper" with a foam pre-filter. Which happens to be for machinery that is used in very dusty/harsh environments.

I replaced my stock air filter with a oiled foam True Flow air filter. I am not affiliated with the co. in any way nor do I sell their products. Keeping that in mind, I can say the filter works as advertised and was of a good quality.

But, and unfortunately with anything that gives improved performance there is most always a but.

Just as with K & N filters you must clean first, dry, then re-oil the filter. Which if you have ever done, is not the most enjoyable task to undertake.

The cleaner is most likey some mix of kero or no. 2. Sure, smells like it...

After cleaning it is air drying time, no compressed air. Although I did find wrapping the filter in dry towels putting it in a strong trash bag and swinging it around gets most of the drying done.

Apply oil, reinstall, and your done. Of course after oiling you have to wait for the oil to dry b/c the carrier agents used to make it easy to apply need a bit of time to evaporate.

I should also note that the longer you let the filter go between cleanings the longer it will take to clean... Who would have thought?

I like to change/clean my air filters during oil changes, but unfortunately it adds considerable time and some prearranging if you want to drive as soon as your done...

None of this actually bothers me as I did know what I was getting into having owned cotton gauze air filters in the distant past... Therefore I can completely recommend the True Flow and although there was no actual testing conducted I believe I could feel a slight improvement in throttle response especially off idle.

Buy a spare paper filter to run in between cleanings......problem solved.
