started my EVIC install... had to swap over the wiring on the dome light plug, and the sunroof controls. What a pain to figure out which of the 4 sunroof wires went where! I still need a bracket and to splice into the OBD-II then I will be done. I tested it and it works though :)

Performed 100K timing belt and accessory belt replacement (per discussion with GDE checked water pump for play and determined to be fine so left it in place), replaced thermostat and coolant, modified the lower half of fan shroud before re-installing it so the blasted thing isn't such a PIA for the next big adventure under the hood, oil+filter change, transmission fluid change, had front rotors turned and new pads installed under warranty, tires balanced and rotated, and very next day started on a 4K mile camping trip through beautiful Canadian national parks (with a little bit of 4x4 action thrown in) while averaging ~32mpg over the whole trip.

Changed my oil and filter, also changed fuel filter. Washed engine and the whole Jeep.

Moved on to partners Grand Cherokee Overland..... Oil and filter change and wash. My CRD still takes more oil than the 4.7L V8 in the Grand!!!

Washed it.

Bought two gallons of H.O.A.T. coolant at the dealer.

Installed new hood supports.

Cleaned the MAP Sensor for the first time.

Took it to a shop to get the A/C discharged in order to do other work in the very near future.

Drove it about 60 miles.

wouldnt start when i was in PA last night. Cranked for a while until it just clicked. Tried charging and boosting it, no luck. finally got it started, went to get food and had to turn it off.. naturally it doesnt start again. dropped in a friends battery and it started right up. Put in his, started it, disconnected his quick and put the optima back in quick while it was still running(at 1500rpms to stay charging) and then drove all the way home. Hopefully the battery solves all of my starting issues. It was idling rough, almost like a knock when i got home last night. praying thats nothing major.

It's likely the battery if you have the oem red top. mine failed a few months after I got the Jeep. Failed to start it on a hot day, was charge and tested ok. then a month or so later failed to start it again. that time it had a good charge but failed the load test and wouldn't start the engine. Seems that the spiral cell batteries are hard to figure out with standard tests when they first start to go then die real fast.

I just replaced mine with a lead-acid Advanced Auto parts Gold battery... which has been no problems since.

It's the original red top so I'm sure its bad. It just gets really hot when I try to charge it, and after a four Hour long drive, shut it off and tried to start it and it just clicked again.

I just picked my CRD up today from my mechanic who did the 100k mile maintenance (timing belt, thermostat, water pump, and serpentine belt). Oh, and I also had him install my new Samco hoses. Now it's time for the CCV re-route so that I don't oil up my new hoses. All in all, buying all the parts and having them installed came to about $1200....ouch. Now it's time for a new Euro TC so that I can get the GDE tunes.

Flashed the GDE Eco tune for the metal glow plugs yesterday. I have the glow plugs unplugged as I havent installed the new metal plugs yet, hope to do that this weekend.

Eco tune drives good, I'm a light foot, so I didnt notice a big difference but do notice throttle response is better. I'm hoping for mpg improvement with the tune.

The GDE tuner device worked fine (I bought the $300 tuner so I could email the stock tune and get the new tune emailed to me vs mailing the computer) and GDEs customer support has been great.

Replaced the thermostat last night.. It wasn't too bad, and the temp gauge is nicely straight up instead of just a little bit above 1/4. Should be interesting to see what the mpg will be in the winter with the winter fuel..

installed Facet fuel lift pump under the hood and inline basic 20-micron see-through fuel filter in front of the pump. both parts from napa. Wired the pump off pin-5 of the fuel pump relay in the breaker box. This relay turns on for 20 seconds with the ignition switch, then runs while motor is running.
