Had maybe 500 pounds of camping gear $89 in drinks plus ice 3 coolers and boat. Averaged 21mpg and hauled arse up to 85 on freeway. Found hills my truck dropped to 3rd or 2nd gear my CRD was in 5th overdrive took hill 80mph. You need to tow a load to appreciate diesel. My jeep has f37 and maf was plugged in so no check engine lights.

I agree, although I don't drive that aggressively. I have driven jeeps since 1978, and my CRD gets better MPG pulling 4,000# than any other jeep I've owned driving without a trailer. :D

Yup. Tow my 19' Starcraft with mine about 100 times a year (yes I fish alot) and I get 22-24 mpg towing and I have a 2000' elevation change from my house to the river. Mine has the F37 but not the TCM update, ORM and EHM. I also run a 70/20/10 mix (currently) of WVO/Diesel/Gas.

Let me get this straight.... you mix 70% WVO with 20% #2 diesel and 10% gasoline (which octane?) directly into the tank? Any other mods besides what mention in the post?
Where can I find more info on this?

Thank you!!
Willy.

I am a huge proponent of alternative fuel. However, this mix u r describing has not been proven over TIME with our CRD engines. By time, I mean 250,000 plus miles at minimum. It's actually proven to cook injectors. Progress doesn't happen without breaking or blowing sh*% up, so please help pave the way.

Me personally, I'll pass. Biodiesel is the only alternative fuel when properly made will last the test of time in a common rail diesel. Thank u Europe.

Do you guys use the 'tow mode' when hauling? The manual has me scared of towing in OD....what are some real-world results?

Really depends on the situation. I use the TC lock out button while towing only on curvy, hilly roads below 40-50mph. The transmission uses different shift points. But on open interstate I do not use the TC lockout, just let her go. The torque is amazing cruising at 60-70mph :)
