OK, For eighteen days, I've been purging air from the fuel head every morning before starting #2 CRD. I find more air when the outside temperatures have been cold, possibly explaining why I did not have this trouble during the summer.
While doing this, I have not had any more starting issues.
So, I'm following Sir Sam's footsteps and have ordered an Airtex E7181M to install in the tank. Either I will eliminate the air or cause a hidden leak to show it's self.
I'm really not looking forward to dropping the fuel tank :(
I will keep everyone up to date on how things go.

Still waiting for two 05 wiring harnesses that I ordered from the dealer. :ALONE: It has been two weeks, the dealer REORDERED them yesterday.
I'm getting tired of bleeding air every morning.

Very satisfied with my first order from Rock Auto :) They shipped me two Airtex lift pumps very fast and only $8.95 shipping for both.

Isn't buying another CRD to save on parts shipping costs sort of like buying a 747 to get the peanuts?? :jester:

The 05 wiring harnesses have arrived, and I have switched locations of the fuel sender wires in the 10 pin connector as per gmctd's instructions on page 2 of "it's 10pm, where is your lift pump".
Is it really necessary to extend the four wires of the fuel module connector lead another 5 inches?

dropping the tank isint as bad as you thing, honestly, the crappiest part is whomever has to hold it up while you reconnect the lines, then put the holding straps back on.

jeepdan - it's been a couple of years - but I think you need some extension and 5" makes for a neater install -

and FYI - the biggest problem I had was that the Rock Lizard bumper weights 110lbs.....
I had the jack under the tank/tank skid - but had to move the bumper around without it...
bumper and skid attach to the same bolt holes....

I am having a cranking problem also. Thought it was lift pump issue, but am using a kennedy pump and still have a problem. No leaks (air or fuel). On a cold start, starts well and idles smoothly. After a warm up and shut down, an immediates start is fine. However, with a 10 min shut down to restart, has a VERY long crank time and then hard start, rough idling and lots of smoke. Any ideas? Have not checked codes yet.
thanks
pablo
