What ever turbo you hang on your manifold, toss that stock muffler for a 2 1/2" all the way through and get rid of the 2 1/8" choke point in the rear cat flange. I put a gauge into my head pipe behind the turbo and those two mods dropped the back pressure from 5 PSI to 0 PSI.
Then invest in a good EGT and boost gauge and watch them both.
If you want to see what the intake sees and engine cares about, plumb the boost gauge into the intake.
If you want to impress the less informed, plumb the boost gauge into the discharge of your turbo, it will read up to ~5 PSI higher. The intercooler cools down the charge making it more dense so you can cram more into the engine, so the pressure drops across the intercooler, but you get more air into the engine

.
If you want to get more out of your intercooler in hot weather, install the Hayden Heavy duty Viscous fan clutch and the V6 11 blade fan. Chances are your stock viscous clutch is already a piece of crap and the fan they put on was a Bean Counter special. Since I made the Hayden/V6 mod my hot weather EGT has dropped and the AC works better.
Dropping the EGT for the same charge going into the engine also helps the turbo bearings last longer.
If you want to get more even more air into the engine and not have black smoke out the exhaust, do to the EGR what Seal Team 6 did to Bin Laden. I am using ORM and plan to go to SEGR. The GDE tunes shut off the light but only reduce EGR, it does not kill it off.
There is a pipe going to the EGR valve that goes into the manifold you need to loosen up to change glow plug #3. To see the pipe flange, remove the two bolts that mount the fuel filter and swing it up out of the way. Loosen up the two bolts that hold the pipe to the flange and slid in a piece of exhaust gasket material, then tighten the two bolts. Now the EGR is DOA. Tuners have to recommend against the blocking off the EGR by law, but they cross their fingers when they say it or tell you only for off road use.
May the Bean Counters and Tree Huggers Fart them selves into the Emergency room
