What product is recommended to make the horizontal part of the rear bumper that is all damaged by the sun, shine like if it was new? It used to be black plastic on my Liberty 2.8 CRD.

Meguiars back to black. Peanut butter might work.

Thank you. I researched a little bit about Meguiars products, and I found one called Ultimate black. Didn't find the one called back to black. Anyway, maybe you were talking about this one. In any case, it seems that this is some sort of a tint that only last a few weeks and it is not forever... kind of like a product for car dealers...

Check out showroom new products. They make several dyes that are permanent.

Might seem strange but I use Marvel Mystery Oil on my plastics, works awesome and they all still look new.

You mean the showroom from Meguiars? I found the one called Ultimate black and it was advertised as longing weeks instead of just days...

It makes a temporary change or is it permanent? And, btw, is this part made out of fiberglass or HDPE?

All your trim is plastic, no its not permanent. Just like any other product you apply, even back to black, eventually it will have to be redone.

I use ice liquid wax ( http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1260 ... M188215520 ) to get my bumpers shiny... the plastics suck this stuff up like a thirsty rat in the Mojave

What used to be black in my rear bumper is now all greyish. Is there a permanent solution to make it go back to its original color?

No, it's a manufacturer. Showroomnewproducts.com I think.

Wow, this seems to be the solution. I wonder what is this product if it is not silicone. I don't find it in my country. I wonder what the ingredients might be...
Thank you.

Agree with Tony
There is nothing that you can put on one time and it will take care of it.
If it had been taken care of all along and treated with products mentioned above it would still look like new.

I am new to this site and to the CRD, however I come from a chevy avalanche site and they too have a major problem with the "cladding" fading. Check out Gatorbackcoatings.com for a permanent coating fix that works. I had a custom avy that I had the dealer coat the cladding with gatorback and it works well and looks good. Chevy now uses them for all the vehicles that had the cladding. The coating is specifically designed for hard to coat plastics etc. They have before and after pics on the site.

Hope that helps,

Danv

This gatorback is a lot more expensive than Back to black. I just ordered the latter. Will see how it works.
