Not only that, this engine is also available with a VGT turbocharger which increases the maximum power output to a class leading 163 CV and torque to 380 Nm.

An optional VGT turbocharger may also be fitted and increases the power output to a class-leading 177 CV.

VM has a few different versions of their first generation commonrail diesel. Yours is the first release with the 1350 bar bosch fuel system and wastegated turbo. The gen 2 version is what was released in the US for 2005-2006 with 1600 bar fuel system and vgt turbo.



Unfortunately, the biggest difference is the software in the Bosch ECM. The EDC15 does not have the control logic built in for running closed loop control on a VGT. I do not think it would be economical to convert your CRD to VGT, it would cost less to sell yours and buy a 2005-2007 CRD.



VM’s website is severely outdated. Since the new block design came out in 2008, VM is not building the older engine used in the KJ CRD. However, they might be using this older engine in some industrial applications.
