That transmission is bullet-proof! I've had mine since new in 2003 and haven't had a single issue with it (*knocking on wood*). Still on the original clutch and only 1 fluid change with 135,000+ miles.

I agree - Both my kids learned to drive a standard with my jeep and also tow a camper without any issues on same clutch ( knocking on wood )..

Barely,it has a rated torque input just barely to handle the 3.7's torque output.Put one behind a 4.7 and you'll have issues then.

I'm glad I don't have a 4.7L then.

Well I guess the life of thing also depends on how you treat it... Other than that a Manual is definitely more fun than automatics imho. But many get a small sports car for that.

I get 2 kinds of people when they see me towing the car trailer (loaded) with my jeep.
the  :?: kind.
and the :pepper: :JEEPIN: kind.
the former can't believe i would own a stick, much less TOW with one ("but, how can you do that? you'll blow it up!")
the latter are like ("that's what I'm talkin' about!")
and yes, it's a stick (albet the 6spd vs. the 5spd.)
