Hello All,

I have an 2008 and the driver seat started to squeak when the Jeep goes over bumps.

Has any one heard of this?

Can a skeaky seat be covered under warranty if we still have one?

Hey I had the same problem with my 08...well actually...HAVE. (not fixed).
It would be covered under warranty but don't know if it would help.

For me I ended up taking it into the dealership 3 or 4 times (while under warranty).....they would not replace the seat but just tightened up the bolt etc... I would leave the dealership and 1 day later....back to squeaks. :furious:
Finally I just gave up going back....and now a couple years later I've gotten used to it.

For what its worth I think it might be the actual springs in the bottom seat cushion and not a loose bolt.

I had this problem (sorta) with my 2010 model but it turned out to be the seatbelt. Well actually is was the part that you click the seatbelt into. I sprayed either wd 40 or some type of lubricant that I had in the garage on/around the large bolt head and the mechanism attached to it that the seatbelt clicks in to and the squeaking stopped.

I honestly thought it was the seat for the longest time until I got fed up and actually took the time to diagnose it.

May not be your issue....just sharing my experience.

I have a squeak for sure.

Metal on metal or Plasitc on Plastic..

I have not had the time to remove the seat, but it is not a loose bolt.
I think it is a moving part that need lub or a better washer...

My wife drives it and tell me every day how it make sound.

As it is under 3 year of owner ship and under 30K, I hope we can warranty it..

Just to be clear...my issue was not a loose bolt...just needed lube where the bolt is located in the floor securing the seatbelt connector/holder.

I am glad that is cleaned up...

I will see what I can do to check out my Jeep to see if it is the same way...

I really hate letting greasy tech touch my car.. The only dealer near us is ok, but the tech never seem to washup before they touch our Jeep.

I was a tech at one point and I took the time to wash before and after each job..

I definitely know what you mean about having to take it in and then someone messes something else up. :banghead: Your issue may not be the same as mine but I sure was glad to see mine turn out to be a cheap easy fix without even leaving the driveway.

I honestly thought mine was the actual seat and was preparing to take the seat out and thought I'd try one more thing and low and behold....TOUCHDOWN !!! :pepper: 8)

The seat belt buckle needs lube.

That is all. Been there, done that. Glad it's gone. :)

It's the bolt at the bottom of the buckle. I'm not sure what the dealership used but it worked great. No more squeak!

Oh jeez, I can't believe I didn't think to try the bolt that holds the seat belt on. I kept thinking it was in the buckle mechanism itself. Now I can't wait to get home and try a little WD-40 on it. :D

It used to aggrevate the CRAP out of me   ...it was for some reason even worse (it seemed) when someone was in the passenger seat even though the squeak was from the driver's side.

WD 40 and less than 5 minutes corrected my issue....however I b!tched about it for a month or so thinking it was the seat. :ROTFL:

***GREATEST THREAD EVER***

oh my god! this pisses me off so much in the morning when im driving half asleep to work listening to talk radio with the volume kinda low (i dont notice it when the radio is blaring on the way home from work  lol)

i've lubed up all of the mounting bolts and even the sliding rails, but i must not have seen the seat belt bolt b/c it didnt even occur to me to lube it

crossing my fingers on this fix :D

only problem is, this isnt the only annoying noise i hear in the morning. my exhaust (40 series) seems to resonate something in my back seat area. sounds like its coming from inside the rear passenger side door, like maybe the speaker or something else. that noise reallllly pisses me off b/c it comes and goes as i go back and forth through the resonant frequency :banghead:

Amazing isn't it?

I thought it was the console, but one day I tried pushing on it from the passenger seat... no squeak. Went back over in the driver's seat and pushed on it WITHOUT my seat belt on. No squeak. Put my seat belt on. SQUEAK!!!! Took the seat belt off and moved the buckle around, no squeak. Moved the buckle around SLOWLY...

SQUEAK!!!

Took it to the dealership and acted like I didn't know what was squeaking. :p That's when they told me that it WAS the buckle.
